Remembering and being grateful. |
|
Okay, so I'm up at 4:30 a.m. because my son has the "local crud," as my pediatrician puts it. He's struggling to breathe and strangling on snot. I just now got him propped up on the sofa with a bottle and he seems to be falling back to sleep.
But I remember when I used to be up at this time of day because I had to have my wine fix, or I was so hungover that I had to throw up in the kitchen sink.
So, it's interesting to be grateful to be up at 4:30, but being up at 4:30 SOBER is a gift. And thank you to all of you on this site for helping me get here.
Much love.

My child is up again at 3:30 this morning, poor thing. Bad reaction to his flu shot from Wednesday. Plus, this stage of development (~3) is not my fave. It exhausts me and if I was still drinking, we'd probably both be dead in a wreck. I do prop myself up on good iced tea when this happens. Not great to rely on a substance, but hey, it's legal and probably won't kill me.
I did tell my husband that it was his "turn" this a.m. He's currently clutching the sleeping baby and I'm going back to bed.
But still grateful. Really grateful. Coping right now would be inmpossible if I was hungover.
Much love.

come to, isn't it?
Even when struggling with a sick baby and sleep deprivation, you find gratitude for your sobriety.
I hope your little one feels better soon.
You are doing great! Thanks so much for keeping us posted and please let us know how you are doing.
