I quit my job last week, tomorrow is my last bar shift |
|
I realized the Drama and resentments my coworkers stirred up in me, being in a bar was a slippery place
What I don't need is a 'queer mental blank spot' due to assholes
ya know what I mean?

Good for you!
Drama and resentments around a continuous flow of booze is very slippery .
You did the right thing is quitting your job there. I know you will feel much better once you are out of there for good.

2. I felt better the minute I made the decision and acted on it |
|
tonight will be a skate as the 'Drama Queens' won't be there
:hi:
I've heard too many horror stories of 15-20 year olds forgetting that this disease is cunning and powerful
my sobriety HAS to come first

3. I'm glad you made this decision. |

High drama, booze and pent up frustration and anger all mixed up together on a daily basis would have done me in a long time ago.
Sometimes I go to a bar/restaurant type thing for food if I am with others who choose it as a place to eat - but as a daily lifestyle, no thanks.
Good for you and best of luck in your new job.

I don't know why I thought you had another job lined up - but good luck finding one.
You know, when I was drinking, I was a %$#*ing drama Queen. Now I hate it. It is such an alcoholic way of life.

I've gotten to the point where I very rarely crave alcohol any more, and when I do the impulse passes very quickly.
But I'm so bloody grateful there's no booze around when it happens. I still wouldn't trust myself. Fortunately, all my good friends are either in a program themselves, or they're aware that I am and know better than to offer me alcohol or plan to meet in bars.
I know many people in recovery who live with earthlings and keep alcohol in their homes. I'm not there yet, and quite possibly never will be. Maybe I'm not working as strong a program as they are, but as long as it's still working for me I'm not about to tempt fate.

6. I worked in a bar for the first 2 years of sobriety |
|
the booze doesn't bother me
but I know I'm not immune to a momentary lapse especially when in a fragile emotional state
better safe than sorry

8. Your sanity and sobriety are worth far more than the money you get from the job! |
|
You will land much more fulfilling employment. I have a green candle on my altar, I will light it for you tonight.
