I am so fucking tired of logic, linguistic, rationalisation etc...
Why?
I am a fucken certifird genious. (Mensa) I am not proud of it. It only explains to me why I do not belong. (generally speaking in North America)

1. Many of us who struggle with addiction are highly intelligent |
|
Not that it is an excuse to use. The "not fitting in" is part of it for many of us. Whether it is intellect or something else that causes us to feel that way, it makes it easy for addictions to take hold in our lives.
Please know that people do care.

2. The most meaningful interpretation of a high IQ is... |

differentness. I believe Mensa's cutoff is at the 98th percentile? That means you have to live with the vast majority of people not quite able to understand your point of view. And what this means for recovery:
NOTHING. Intelligence does not help in the recovery process whatsoever. You're not smarter than the accumulated wisdom of generations of recovered people. In fact, you might have to get stupid to have a chance. I've noticed a pattern for myself that probably applies to most people, recovering especially: the smarter I get, the more danger I am in.

three people he came to visit I was the least likely to "get it"
He figured I was too smart, but of the three folks he visited that week I'm the only one sober
You can be too smart for your own good sometimes, or just let your intelligence be your friend. There are lots of intelligent people in recovery.
Genius doesn't have to have the adjective "tortured" in front of it you know!
