Hi, I'm Ron, and I have a problem |
|
I don't know if I'm an alcholic or not. No DT's when I don't drink....but.
I know-same shit, different boozer. The thing is, I know I have a problem, just not entirely sure I'm addicted.
Let it be known now: Y'all know my occupation. I NEVER, EVER drive my rig(or any other vehicle) after even just one.
I know the saying: Denial ain't just a river in Egypt. I'm not denying I have a problem. Emails and PMs are most welcome.
Ron

1. you don't have to answer this, but take a look |
|
1. Do you lose time from work due to your drinking?
2. Is drinking making your home life unhappy?
3. Do you drink because you are shy with other people?
4. Is drinking affecting your reputation?
5. Have you ever felt remorse after drinking?
6. Have you gotten into financial difficulties as a result of your drinking?
7. Do you turn to lower companions and an inferior environment when drinking?
8. Does your drinking make you careless of your family's welfare?
9. Has your ambition decreased since drinking?
10. Do you crave a drink at a definite time daily?
11. Do you want a drink the next morning?
12. Does drinking cause you to have difficulty in sleeping?
13. Has your efficiency decreased since drinking?
14. Is drinking jeopardizing your job or business?
15. Do you drink to escape from worries or troubles?
16. Do you drink alone?
17. Have you ever had a complete loss of memory as a result of your drinking?
18. Has your physician ever treated you for drinking?
19. Do you drink to build up your self-confidence?
20. Have you ever been in a hospital or institution on account of drinking?
If you have answered YES to any one of the questions, there is a definite warning that you may be an alcoholic.
If you have answered YES to any two, the chances are that you are an alcoholic.
If you have answered YES to three or more, you are definitely an alcoholic.

2. An old friend of mine told me years ago...people who don't |
|
have a problem with alcohol don't show up a AA meetings. As in your case, don't ask questions on the addiction/recovery group.
Try going out and having a couple of drinks and stop abruptly and go home. Do that a few times and if you can do that, "our hats are hats are off to you." Good luck.

Hi, I'm Ron, and I'm an alcoholic.
"Just" beer, but alcohol nevertheless. I could go into all the excuses, but you've heard them all. Fact is, I need a drink at a certain time. I can do my job all day, but if I can't have a drink by 11PM Central, I go apeshit.
No DT's, yet, thank God. Just agitation.

Welcome to recovery! You've taken the first and most important step, which is to admit that you have a problem.
It took me forty years to admit I was an alcoholic, but I finally did, and that was the last day I took a drink, almost six years ago.

6. I've been there too - there IS life after alcohol |
|
even "just beer" - by the way, to the body it's all just alcohol!
AA has worked for me for 17 years - hope you give it a try.

Glad to see you here. Find a god of YOUR understanding, talk to him and ask for his help and guidance. Only you know if you have a problem, if you feel you do, we are here.
Be safe in that rig my friend.
Peace,
John
