Yesterday was not such a good "diet" day
Restless at my desk here at work. It was hard to stay focussed on work. All I did was snack all day long--and not on good stuff either.

Today has started out higher in carbs than I want to, but I think I'll be able to turn it around at lunch and dinner.

How are you all doing?

1. Hi MissMillie...
I'm sorry to hear about your day... I had one of those days, day before yesterday! I had had a 'good' day until dinner, and then lost all control. But, I got back on program yesterday, and ended up having an ok day. I have read, and am trying to implement it, that even if you do make a mistake, just keep looking forward, and make the correct choices next time. Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes. This lesson, for me, has been difficult, and I am by no means saying that I have mastered it, but I'm trying. Each baby step forward, adds up, and if you keep having more baby steps forward than backward (even if you do have baby steps backward), you will reach your goal.

Are you eating enough protein in your diet plan? I know when I don't include enough protein, I tend to feel restless and unfocused. I've begun making myself, sometime between 3pm and 4pm, have a cheese string, to get me over the hump.

Good for you! you are looking ahead to lunch and dinner, and it sounds like you have a plan for both!

3. The word "cheat" is not in my vocabulary when it comes to eating.
I make "good choices" and "bad choices" but the emphasis is on the word "choice." Otherwise, I start resenting the fact that I'm trying to follow a particular plan. When I make a bad choice, it's because I've decided that I am willing to accept the consequences. And if it turns out that I was wrong about that, I try to remember the next time! :)

4. My diet is supposed to be primarily protein
(because of my surgery) but there are days when I am better at it than others.

I had a very good lunch today (salad w/ grilled chicken and some cheese and black beans) and I have a plum on my desk for this afternoon when I am looking for something sweet.

Tonight.... I'll probably make myself an omelet for supper (some good solid protein there)

5. that salad sounds delicious!
Is there a specific reason you are to stick primarily to protein because of your surgery? I am just asking, as I am trying to incorporate more of the Atkins program into my diet, and perhaps this information could help me too.

7. malabsorption of nutrients
a section of my small intestine has been bypassed, and since that is where nutrients are absorbed, I absorb less nutrients. I can take vitamin and mineral supplements, and even protein supplements, but I really do need to focus on eating plenty of lean protein in order to keep from losing muscle mass.

9. The protein sounds yummy
Because of my pancreatitis I have to eat mostly non fat carbs.

I could go for some serious protein right now. And I am a vegetarian.

I drink those high protein weight loss shakes -- those help but its not the same.

2. My challenges are at home
because I don't work in a place with food in front of me or nearby all the time. And I stay very busy at work. But I'm home three days a week and even though I don't keep a lot of junk around, I can sure fill up on the other stuff!

I've been good so far this week -- still new to the WW program so I'm in that "honeymoon" phase. I hope I can keep it up!

6. I know about being at home...
and the inherent challenges there. I am at home now too, and I don't remember it being this hard when I was working at an office. There's constantly some reason to be in the kitchen, and voila! there is the food.

It has helped me recently, in that I've been trying to do a major reorganization of our home, and that has kept me busy and my focus on something other than the next meal, and what it will be. Its tough though! I hear ya...

8. I'm feeling like I need to get back in the groove.
I was a little under the weather this week, did not work out, lost motivation, feel like I've added a bit of weight.

Next week will be better.

10. It's OK, we all slip from time to time.
I had a bad day yesterday. I was really pressed for time and pigged out on some hot dogs & Mac&Cheese. I felt bad and got back to my normal healthy routine today.
