An email I really hated to see today: |
|
"CalorieKing.com You have a check-in today! 06/24/05 3KB"
I went to the doc yesterday. I weigh more today than I ever have.
I haven't been trying to lose weight but I thought I had been trying to be careful. I didn't expect to see that I'd peaked.
I'm pissed, I'm anguished, I'm frightened, and I'm thoroughly unmotivated.
Why I went to the doc -- well, suffice to say that most of my health problems would go away if I lost a full half of my weight.

1. It is not easy. Believe me I know. |
|
I have been fighting it all my life. Chin up or maybe I should chin ups & check in with everyone here when ever you need support. I know when I've done the best at losing is with the support of others that were dealing with it too.

3. RR, the hardest thing for me in this process is learning to |
|
accept support. I'm trying. Thanks.

2. I know it's frustrating. |

The only way I can handle it is to try to be patient and realize that the changes I'm making are good for me, even if they don't show up as net loss on the scales. I try to remind myself that I might be gaining or gaining even faster if I wasn't making these efforts and they just HAVE to pay off eventually.
What else can we do? Giving up completely is not an alternative because then I feel even more unhappy about myself. In fact, when I'm following a controlled plan and exercising, the only time I don't feel good about myself is when I get on the scales and see no progress. So maybe I should quit getting on the scales? ;)
So my advice, to both of us, is to focus on a healthy eating/exercise plan that you can live with regardless of the results on the scale. If the reward isn't based on the scale but on feeling good and knowing we're doing the best we can, it's much easier to stick to it. Good luck to both of us!

4. I can't give up. I want to see the future. |
|
I want to know if I'm strong enough to bear deaths in my family; I don't want mine to be one that they have to bear.
TY for your thoughts, Longhorn. Bon chance.

5. I think we all have been there |

Don't beat yourself up. Your body is designed to keep weight once you gain it and resist what it sees as starvation. It is an uphill battle that we all face. Just do what you can for now until you are ready again to try to lose.:hi:

Long time since I considered that little quirk of our bodies.... I'll try to keep it in mind.
