Carl's burgers - don't watch if you don't have to - trust me - it's truly awful.

If you scroll down the link, you can read a brief description that should tell you what you need to know about it.

Please be sure and write Carls. I'm trying to find a boycott group (besides milliondads, if I can.) Not that *I* actually eat there anymore anyway, but still.

1. Ick

I'm pleasantly surprised that there weren't the usual apologists on that thread, telling everyone to lighten up. That ad is just gross. It manages to be both misogynistic and insulting to men.

2. I really hate these guys

Carl's Jr. always has the most demeaning ads and they get away with it year after year. Writing won't do any good, imo. I've had personal experience with these people. They don't give a damn. They are bullies and they are criminals.

I slipped in one of their stores years ago. Salad bar dressing and melted ice on the floor. Blind turn. I fell really hard - tried to break the fall by grabbing onto a table. I twisted my back hard. Really hard. It took three surgeries over the following 11 months before I was out of excruciating pain. I won't go into detail but I lost everything. I couldn't work. I had no family to help. My daughter was only 3.

They tried to pay me off the first week in the hospital - something like a thousand dollars.

After that they hired people to lie about me. It was horrible. They claimed I was faking the injury. That I poured my drink on the floor and staged the fall. People who had really worked there at the time disappeared, had moved away, or were not available to testify on my behalf. Even so, when the time came I won a large sum of money in arbitration. But Carl's refused to pay and so we were to go on to the trial phase.

The night before trial was to begin my own lawyer called me to tell me he suddenly believed their witnesses. I didn't understand. He was recommending I drop the case. He'd been bought off.

Several years later I met a woman who worked for Carl's in-house lawyers. She told me that their ice machines were defective and that they had slip and falls all the time. They paid professional witnesses every time there was an incident. In cases like mine, with severe injuries that went to trial, it was always cheaper and better for business to pay off the plaintiff's lawyer than to lose the case. She said it was standard operation. Happened all the time.

I don't know. Maybe all businesses defend themselves in crooked dishonest ways. Maybe I am naive. But when I see one of their ads I am never surprised. They bully, demean and threaten violence like they do in real life and it makes me feel sick.

I've always wondered if I was just sensitive to these ads.

I can't tell you how much I hate these guys.

3. god how awful!

I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that - AND get royally and totally screwed - not only by Carls, but by your attorney.

It never ceases to amaze me - though it should, I suppose - to see the lengths to which people will go for pure greed.

I wonder what the owners/writers would say if their daughter decides to teach one day and she gets harassed and treated like crap because hey it's the cool thing to do.

7. Well that's it. No more Carls Jr. for me, ever.

Not that I frequented the place much, but still. What's even worse is that the cons have done such a brilliant job of convincing people that these poor multi-billion$ corporations are the 'victims' of 'frivolous' lawsuits.

I'm so sorry you didn't collect what they owed you. I hope you are doing better now.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that a company that demeans people in its advertising would do it in real life.

4. I always wonder

How anybody manages to be so stupid and insulting at the same time. Insult science, completely insult women, pack it a Beevus and Butthead I don't give a shit about school commercial. Almost makes me miss Beevus and Butthead. Almost.

I've never heard of the place. I have no problems writing and complaining.

5. all of their commercials

are disgusting in one way or another.

Their Hardees chain used to run a commercial where a quite obese man would sit there talking about how much he LOVED those 1-lb. burgers. His rings would barely fit on his fingers. He was supposedly a "professional butcher" and he talked about what good quality meat went into them thar burgers.

It was just such a picture of gluttony to my mind.

And then those slopping licking sucking commercials they had. They made me want to :puke: it was just so disgusting to listen to.


And the one with some "babe" who was supposedly a trucker wearing not much more than a long shirt - would sit and "eat" with all the attendant sexual innuendo.

oh god, never mind. I'm sorry. It's just that they offend every one of my sensibilities on a regular basis.
