Shamelessly attacking a sixteen year old girl
Edited on Mon Sep-01-08 09:56 PM by Chovexani
Whose only crime was likely not having enough information to make informed choices about her sexuality, and being born of a fundie wackjob who happens to be running for high office.

Fake "baby registries". A "joke" that the only thing to "do" in Alaska besides hunt is this girl, done in the style of those stupid, officially well over and played out motivational posters. MySpace photos to further humiliate this "teenaged Jezebel" and show what a "whore" she is (she was kissing another girl! Likely to tililate the same men who salivate all the while casting stones)...and it turns out, it's not even her MySpace.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are officially Free Republic Left. This site has zero moral credibility to stand on.

2. As my aunt says, ain't this some dumb shit.
Shakesville already is up to pt 4 of the Palin Sexism Watch. FOUR. WITH AN "F".

You know what I think, honestly? Misogyny isn't a character flaw or even just base prejudice, it's a mental illness. These assholes can't even help themselves. It's like a woman hating version of Tourette's. It's like the conversation will start out normal and then out nowhere BITCHWHORESTONETHESLUTWAITLETMEFUCKHERFIRST

I say it's a mental illness because logically they have to know it's shooting themselves in the foot. After disaffected women were finally coming back into the fold, bolstered and committed to unity, all of a sudden we're reminded of just why we were disaffected in the first place. All the misogynist filth that was thrown at Hillary was just swallowed up once she behaved like a "good girl" and bowed and scraped enough to their liking. Now it's all being vomited up at Palin like pea soup in the Exorcist. It's like that Frankenstein's monster that was created in the primary just broke out of his cell again and is on the rampage, and all they can do is egg his ass on. God damn I'm gonna run out of similes and metaphors at this rate. It's an illness. They just can't help themselves. Fuck the good of the country, we have to get our titty joke on!

Ol' McVoldemort is crazy like a fox, though, I will say that. The more I think about it, the more I believe this was orchestrated by Rove et. al for this very purpose. It was never about attracting PUMA votes. It was about re-opening fresh wounds and getting enough of us pissed off that we'd stay home. They dangled Palin out there like bait counting on it, and the troglodyte wing of the "progressive" blogosphere is jumping on the bait like cats on chicken that dropped on the kitchen floor. The timing of it was absolutely masterful, too.

This is gonna be a long assed two months, that's all I know. We sure are living in interesting times, by the Chinese meaning.

3. Obama harnessed misogyny
to build his brand. Since his main competition had a loyal following among women and championed Democratic issues traditionally thought of as interest to women, he had to differentiate himself as a more masculine brand, not one of those soft girlymen worried about health care and education. The misogyny, too, was a tool to demoralize and defeat their opponent and her supporters. They have badly miscalculated, I believe, and it may yet bite them in the ass.

This is the main reason I do not trust Obama to end the war in Iraq. To shore up his identity he has to prove he has a big, hard military dick, unlike McCain (who has nothing to prove there) or Hillary.

As for McCain, I would not underestimate him one bit. Dwight Eisenhower was a boring old grampa, too, but he defeated Adlai Stevenson twice.

BTW do you read Anglachel? Get her analysis of the Palin pick: http://anglachelg.blogspot.com/2008/08/basic-instinct.html

4. Amen.
And lol cause I've got Anglachel's post open in another tab. Violet Blue also had some interesting analysis going on too.

The more I think about it the more I think the Frankenstein's monster analogy is perfect.

7. You're kidding, right?
"To shore up his identity he has to prove he has a big, hard military dick, unlike McCain (who has nothing to prove there) or Hillary."

With all due respect, and not that I want to dredge up the primaries (but you started so here goes..) but wasn't it Senator Clinton who refused to apologize for her war vote, supported cluster bombs, and spoke of "obliterating" Iran?

You really wanna open this can of worms?

8. I'm not kidding.
If he is elected and ends the war, I will be surprised and delighted.

6. It's disgusting
Edited on Tue Sep-02-08 02:40 PM by ismnotwasm
I don't get it. Motherfuckers wouldn't say shit to my 17 year old pregnant ass, and yes I was 17, not to my face and not that I'd hear about and get away with it, but it's Oh, so easy to talk cruel, shitty nonsense toward someone who can't fight back. Then justify it in the name of political expediency. (No assholes, it's not being political, it's not "fighting back" it's ---wait for it---being an ASSHOLE. Singly and collectively)

Chris Kelly from Huffington Post, (who I don't usually read) has a interesting set of photo ops. I haven't been around DU much lately, so forgive me if it's a repeat. These pictures show the young woman carrying her newest little brother. If this is deliberate as he implies, my disgust over the whole thing just went increased, and I thought that would be impossible.

10. Rude Pundit was the capper. He claims his point is that Bristol Palin
has been reduced to her vagina in public discourse and then, turns around and does exactly the same thing he purports to critique.

It's like we're having a massive attack of The Stupid.
