3. I'm almost ready to give up on DU at this point.

I'm tired of the crap that gets casually thrown at women here and the tolerance for it. Granted, I don't come to DU for feminism, but for political gossip. There are better places to discuss feminism online. (That's why I've never posted in this forum.) But I'm starting to feel like I'm under attack here all the time, simply because I was born female.

another thread came up on exploding muslim boobs. the intent of post seems to be put up so males can go in and simply trash female body. i saw that it was locked stating sexist comments and sex thread per responses. i didnt know they would shut down for that. in the past they have been left open. so was good to see. good to see what the new lines are.

i know when i first came to du, there was more effort not allowing this. slowly the line was pushed back on what is allowed with trashing women.

8. I was away from DU for 6 months

I simply couldn't access it -- thought maybe it had something to do with where I live (S. Korea). Anyway. . . I missed the political gossip at first, but I noticed that I wasn't so tense all the time. I still cared about politics, but I didn't get as upset about things. A couple months ago I was able to get back to DU and I had completely forgotten about all the hypocrisy and female bashing. It is disgusting.

9. precisely why i spend more time in this forum....

...and less time in gd, gd-p and a few other sexist sub-forums. because here, i can have intelligent discussion w/other like-minded individuals (mostly female) w/out feeling disparaged, attacked, diminished, minimized, etc.

though to be honest, i don't read du as much as i used to. i take frequent, looooong breaks.;) the difference to my mental health is tangible (and so worth it).
