YES YES YES!!! I got the "bitch-slapped" thread in GD deleted
Edited on Wed Jun-29-05 10:00 AM by VelmaD
I tried being reasonable - told the little newbie (less than 200 posts and only a member since this May) that they had likely missed all the flamewars over it and suggested they might want to find a way of expressing their point that wasn't so offensive to many on DU.

Little *#$%& had the gall to tell me it wasn't a gender insult and that it was "pc silliness". :eyes:

I may have a new motto: "PC silliness...the battle cry for those who are being rude and just don't care"

Anyway, GO MODS :yourock: for deleting it so quickly.

Should be interesting to see how the little %&$*#^ reacts when they figure out their thread got deleted. Keep an eye on GD y'all.

2. oh good for you! And HOORAY for the mods!
feels good to be taken seriously

pc silliness.....fuckbrains

so typical...of some people here. Unbelievable. Especially since they would "get it" in a heartbeat if it were any other slur. Well, except for the two other types of slurs, usually reserved against women: looks and weight. But you get my point.

got a link?

3. Good for you!
And the Mods!!

I love this: "PC silliness...the battle cry for those who are being rude and just don't care"

I'd might tweak it to say (where appropriate), "those who are being SEXIST and intend to stay that way."

5. I hate that term.
Combining contempt for women with violence.
Plus, I think it refers to the pimp-prostitute
relationship, and the sense that the male has
the RIGHT to assault the woman, or even a DUTY.
Awful, ignorant, hateful term. Rightfully banned here.

10. Exactly!
When I was in graduate school, one of my gentleman friends, like a lot of graduate students, lived on the street that served as New Haven's red light district. (It was close to campus, the rent was cheap, and word was that the pimps kept the muggers away.)

Anyway, on hot summer nights, we were often treated to the sounds of the prostitutes literally being yelled at and "bitch-slapped," so the term has very unpleasant connotations for me.

7. My response when people call things "PC"
and mean it to be deriding is to tell them, "oh yes, politeness - so declasse', isn't it. Yes, by all means, everyone should be rude and seek to offend others at all times."

As far as I'm concerned, "PC" should be reversed - it's really CP - Common Politeness (I only wish politeness WERE common).

8. Great work.

The opposite of politically correct is politically incorrect.
