It figures. It just figures. I suppose he thinks he has a sense of humor.

5. Well, now the a**hole is USSC Chief |
|
He's a mysogenist pig who thinks women ought to be home barefoot, pregnant, and making cookies.
Oh boy...what a 50-year ride THIS is gonna be. It's men like this - I just want to slame their d*ck in a BIG heavy door.
They need an "Attitude adjustment"....

7. Hey, I'm a 'homemaker' becoming a lawyer .. |
|
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 05:34 PM by Maat
I take offense.
Well, I retired from social work five years ago to go to law school ... don't know if I was a 'homemaker' in the truest sense of the word. But I split my time between law school and homework and shuffling the kid around. Hmmm ...
I graduated in '04, and am awaiting bar results. My opinion: this is a horrible event in American law (his appointment)(Rehnquist revisited).

9. And that will make you a FANTASTIC attorney! |
|
Your real life experience will benefit your clients and the legal profession. Roberts is nothing but a silver spoon elitist oblivious asswipe.

I giggle (in a perverse sort of way) when I hear Roberts' quote.
He is .. what you said. I'll bet he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth (not much has been said about his upbringing).

8. The fact he thinks that shit is funny |
|
Exposes how unqualified he is. It's one thing to be "one of the boys" and say stupid things, but another to talk that way in a professional capacity. He has said some other completely immature crap. He was around 30, obviously ambitious and should have known better. In fact, I'm sure he did and does, he just didn't give a shit. He does not have the experience for the position he is getting, regardless of his political leanings. Much like bush who became president with NO redeeming political experience qualifying him. Governor or no. So we get stuck with one inexperienced idiot appointing another, neither one appropriate for what they're supposed to be doing. It literally gives me a headache.

13. The reason why more people aren't upset by Roberts' comments |
|
is that they are forced to deal with similar comments at work daily. If they speak up, others then accuse them of not having any sense of humor. So it seems "normal" to have to listen to this kind of crap and deal with the chronic sexism of which it's merely one symptom.

As a female pre-lawyer/law-clerk (I'm awaiting bar exam results), I see the female attorneys deal with this kind of crap all the time.

12. It's the REAL affirmative action at work |
|
You know, the one where elite, connected, mostly White males (along with the occasional token) are placed into positions for which they are marginally qualified for or not at all. Once entrenched, they can then look down their noses on the rest of us and tell us we need to make it on our own "merit".
