So the freepers have posted a DU post....with commentary.....
I forget who originally posted this, I thought it was a nice sentiment, but this just proves wingnuts will be wingnuts.....
Dear dismayed conservatives:
I hereby make these promises to you. We can define what promise means later.

We will protect your lives and livelihoods. How will you do this without guns?

We will listen to and respect your beliefs. Right, and then turn around and force everyone to go along with yours.

We will never try to force you to change your religion, sexual orientation, or first language. But we will certainly force your kids to do so.

We will do our best to reduce the number of abortions in our country. By calling them something else.

We will have no tolerance for corruption and cronyism, even in our own party. However, our minds our so reprobate we can no longer recognize what corruption or cronyism are.

ESPECIALLY in our own party. (Except the Inner Party.)

We will never tell you that you are unpatriotic. Because we don't care about patriotism.

We will never tell you that your opinion doesn't count. But we will think it, and do what we can to count our votes twice while dumping yours in the trash.

We will never waste your lives for power. We will sacrifice them for power in the most stewardly way we know how.

We will hold our leaders to a high ethical standard and when they succumb to lust for power, WE WILL HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. But no matter how illegal or immoral their behavior, we will let them continue to hold office.

If we forget this, please, please, please, remind us. So we can politely ignore you.

We need you to do this. You are America as much as we are. Because without you, there wouldn't be an America.

1. Ok, fine. Don't accept the olive branch
Maybe they'd like it better if we gloated like jerks (the way they do), tell them they're irrelevant (like they tell us), and threaten them with the "nuclear option" (like they did). Geez... sorry we tried to be nice guys :_(

3. Once again, they're projecting.
In their typically feebleminded, emotionally retarded and infantile way, they are revealing far more about themselves than they intend. Everything they accuse Dems of are actually the core values of the Republican Party.

4. Sigh. Let them flail and be bitter.
It's all they really have left. Their dreams of a lily-white America, unsullied by anyone who ain't them have turned to piss.

Recognize that place for what it is: A psychiatric group home, badly run and poorly counseled.

7. (sigh)
If what happened to them had happened to us, you know that they would have been insufferable. Duh-bya would have probably had a smug grin and something sanctimonious to say about how the Republicans had kept their majority. It's OK for them to gloat, but if we even mention that we won, they're mad?

Geez...if these are our political enemies, how come we haven't won every single election?

8. That is so sad
I remember reading the original post and thinking how it represented my viewpoint. Reading that sad and frightened commentary, I can only reiterate the feeling of the orignal post. I know the world may be a confusing and frightening place, but we'll do everything we can to help you come to tewrms with this big wonderful world we live in. As hard as it may be, we are our brothers keeper.

Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 01:13 AM by Sparkly
Freepers are lost, closed-minded, frightened little people who believe what they are too afraid to STOP believing. GIVE UP ON THEM.

(Edit: No, they're not "conservatives" -- the only thing they want to conserve is the FICTION that passes for thought in their sadly deluded little minds.)

"We will never tell you that your opinion doesn't count. But we will think it, and do what we can to count our votes twice while dumping yours in the trash."

Are they finally willing to consider election fraud a real threat now? When Democrats brought up the subject of election fraud, we were called conspiracy theorists, tin-foil hatters, and moon-bats. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, they are accusing US of fraud?

The hypocrisy is mind-boggling. Additionally, it's sad that they reacted so bitterly to the friendly overture contained in the original post.

There is a name for what happened on Tuesday, folks. It's called DEMOCRACY.

Do the Freepers have a problem with Democracy? They claim to be the "party of patriotism" and the party that just LOVES AMERICA - but it would seem that they have a hard time accepting that in a Democracy, power periodically changes hands at the will of the people.

Perhaps they only love "Democracy" when it looks more like Theocracy?

Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 03:12 AM by jgraz
Dear Degenerate Fuckheads:

We hereby make these promises to you.

We will protect our lives and livelihoods from your predatory, murderous policies.

We will listen to and respect your beliefs, but we will never again allow your medieval superstitions to run our lives.

We will never try to force you to change your religion, sexual orientation, or first language. And if you ever try to do this to us we will kick your ass into next week.

We will do our best to reduce the number of abortions in our country. By allowing your ignorant brood to learn about healthy sexuality and birth control.

We will have no tolerance for corruption and cronyism, even in our own party. ESPECIALLY since we'll have no place to put them with all y'all taking up all the prison space.

We will never tell you that you are unpatriotic. As long as you pay your fair share of taxes without complaint and sign up to fight in any war you support. Oh, and try to cut down on outing our covert foreign operatives.

We will never tell you that your opinion doesn't count. Because "opinion" is a big word and you might not understand us. Instead we'll just say "shut the fuck up you inbred moron."

We will never waste your lives for power. We'll let you waste them on crystal meth and gay prostitutes.

We will hold our leaders to a high ethical standard and when they succumb to lust for power, THEY"LL STILL BE TWENTY TIMES BETTER THAN THE NAZI FREAKS YOU VOTE FOR.

If we forget this, please, please, please, remind us. So we can go out back and shoot ourselves like you would if you had any shred of self-respect.

We need you to do this. After all, we need somebody to pick up the trash and park our cars. But put a towel down first -- I just had it detailed and I don't want to get Redneck all over the leather.
