Stalkers and Their Creepy Stalky Ways
Is Tucker Carlson stalking an ex-video store clerk?

Saturday, December 23, 2006
"Not as Recognizable as You Might Think Mr. Carlson

From WIKIPEDAIA:
Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson (born May 16, 1969 in San Francisco, California) is a pundit who currently hosts Tucker, a national television news show, which is broadcast weekdays at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET on MSNBC.

Carlson is generally considered one of the most recognizable conservative media personalties on American television.

Tucker Carlson opened an account last night at my video store. I thought the name seemed familiar but I couldn't figure out why. It was after he left that I realized he was on the list of Gigantic Cobagz. I could tell you what he and his ridiculously wasped-out female companion (wife?) rented if you really want to know. I won't tell you where he lives, though. That would be wrong and stupid. I will also not be running around ordering 10,000 copies of America: The Book and having it sent to his place even if that would be more awesome than frozen urine treats for his home."

http://freelancegenius.blogspot.com/2006/12/not-as-recognizable-as-you-might-think.html

Poster Comment: The man who posted the above was fired from his job as a video store clerk--after some lawyer-goons who stated they worked for Carlson appeared at the store. He also blogs that someone is still out there digging up info on him, such as his name, address, etc., etc.
If the above is considered as some sort of "threat" to Tucker Carlson, who avidly seeks and obtains publicity, fame, and fortune, then all I can say is, the self-proclaimed "elites" really do have us by the short hairs, and we are all "n-words" now! And on a related note, I would just like to tell Martin Luther King (albeit, almost 40 years too late), I FINALLY TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU WERE MAKING ALL THAT FUSS ABOUT! You were right: being treated as a third-class peasant SUX! This blogger lost his job because Tucker Carlson is a spineless, frightened, quivering wussbucket. (But then, aren't all bullies spineless, frightened, quivering wussbuckets?)

I anticipate that some persons here will try to see the whole tempest-in-a-teapot through Carlson's eyes, and will bend over backwards to be "fair" and say, "Well, you know, when you're rich and famous and on TeeVee every night, you have to be careful..." All I can say is, PUH-LEEEZE! LOOK at what the blogger wrote! It was nothing more than the usual water-cooler "Hey, *I* saw someone famous the other night!" BIG FUCKING DEAL! Methinks the Tuckster overreacted just a bit...

Happy MLK day, fellow members of the peasant class!:) Enjoy your brief respite from toil, and remember that you will never achieve the glory of the great Tucker Carlsons of the world. Always Know Your Place.

1. The reason Carlson's upset
It's the revelation that he wears a bow-tie when going to the video store. That's damning evidence of gigantic doucheitude, I think.

s before and they do tend to get highly pissed, even though I didn't really give a crap what they were doing, but the fact that I knew was enough to send them over the edge.

46. Years ago, I was using my home video camera at Bates Nut Farm near San Diego...
and this couple happened to be walking across the parking lot toward me. The guy yelled, "You better not fucking film me or I'll fucking kill you!"

I'm assuming that the man's female companion wasn't his wife.

And Bates Nut Farm isn't high on my list of places to take a secret mistress for a roll in the hay... I mean, cashews.

9. I don't want some video store clerk yapping about what I rent or buy
Bush et al DO want that info, though. Tucker had a right to be pissed and to get that guy's job. What he did is truly stupid. I may not like Tucker, but he has a right to a reasonable degree of privacy. If he was renting white power DVDs or something, there might be an excuse, but absent that, this clown had no business messing with him.

10. You may have a point, considering what the guy said he rented -
only he didn't say. All he said was "I saw him" and communicated his disdain for him. He didn't even identify the store he saw him in.

So this guy was fired for giving out NO information about a public figure.

By those standards, if he told the make and model of the car Tucker drove up in he could be shot.

12. I knew it!
With all due respect to your opinion, you are writing about a person who SEEKS PUBLICITY as part of his (lucrative) livelihood. Have you never seen an advertisement for Tucker Carlson's show?

Do you realize that if the public cease to be at least mildly curious about Tucker or his show, then Tucker makes a lot less money, and maybe even loses his job?

Do you realize that if either of the above things happen, Tucker will be not be able to "put food on his family"--or at least, won't be able to put quite as good food on his family? I mean, one of his four kids may have to forego Princeton!

Tucker Carlson was NOT unwittingly hauled into the spotlight of fame. He actively SEEKS it. Please google "Sullivan vs. New York Times".

Furthermore, did you notice that in the blog entry, the guy did NOT reveal what Tucker rented? And that the guy pointedly spoke out against even the notion of revealing Tucker's secret compound (also known as Tucker's residence)?

Do you remember the old response that movie stars used to make to reporters who asked them what it was like to be mobbed by fans and to have their every action described in detail in the paper? The standard reply was, "Well, I'll only be upset when people STOP wanting to know about me."

Does the blog entry, which you can read in my initial post, warrant Carlson's going back to the store and telling the guy, "Stop this shit or I'll fucking destroy you"? Isn't that a physical threat (albeit conditional)?

Sorry, but I for one am tired of watching our fellow members of the peasant class being batted around by self-proclaimed "elites" like these Bush-enabling media "personalities". And you can comfort yourself with the fact that even the publicity which is generated by our discussing this here will be good for little Tucker's show, and therefore good for his big bank account.

In his defense I will say that Tucker said he wouldn't try to get the guy fired or take any legal action because he's Libertarian and they don't do things like that. Then the next day the lawyers show up and the guy got canned. The guy made a dumb move and Tucker is an ass, together it made a nice little story.

properly and apreciation for the money he spends in the store. instead you chose to lose him as a customer and his money. that is your right as an owner. how far does it go, poor service because of personal dislike. who else do you allow an employee to run out of your business, ergo their money. business is about making money. not twiddling thumbs. that money in turn feeds families. the way our monetary system works.

i dont care who the customer is, we always treat them respectfully. and thank them for using us. you run a business differently, your right. not how i do things.

man at all. i think he is doing irrefutable harm to others. his preaching is hate. he has a huge church, one of those mega churches. he brought in clothes and in the pile was a pair of hot red bikini underwear. the gals cleaned and bagged up the clothes and had the underwear right up front. every time that line would roll, any customer would be able to see this mans name well known in town, and his hot red bikini underwear.

the whole purpose was to humiliate and embarrass the man.

i took that hanger and put it in the middle of the clothes. i didn't like the man. i didn't care if he was embarrassed. but if i allowed that, then it would then be about me and what a rotten person i was being. nothing about the creep. and every customer that saw those underwear might get a flash in their mind that IF they had accidentally gotten a pair of undies in dry cleaning clothes, they too would have been humiliated.

it is the difference between right and wrong.

so

how does that make you more honorable?

37. I don't understand. Why was there a big sign saying his name
at all, whether beside his hot red bikini underwear or by some other article of clothing? I think that, if I owned a laundry or dry cleaners, my honorable business practices would begin with maintaining some level of anonymity for all my customers, not just for any cross-dressers I happened to despise.

Really, your anecdote doesn't have much bearing on anything I've said, nor on the original case. The video store employee didn't say which video store he worked in (this only came out after Carlson's fits of rage), nor what movie Carlson had rented. The "hot red bikini underwear" in this case remained hidden.

If putting a despicable preacher's unmentionables in the middle of a rack represents the ne plus ultra of probity and virtue to you, then we definitely have different values. Me, I should probably never run a laundry, because it wouldn't have occurred to me to move the guy's panties at all. I'd have just thought they were his wife's and that it was no big deal.

no.... there is a ticket with name and item of clothes. we identify our customer by name. they give it to us, then we find there name in a file, then pull up the clothes and match the name on the ticket in our hand, with the name on the ticket of clothes insuring we hand the right order to the customer.

obviously you dont see an issue with this employee. i do. but i also notice that in my disagreeing with you, i havent resorted to personal attack and you do consistanly.

40. I've made no personal attacks.
I just didn't understand why the preacher's name was visible to other customers. I still don't, really - couldn't the ticket be facing the other way? In any case, I do plead guilty to taking us off topic. Mea culpa.

If we have different approaches to business, a different appreciation for money and an altogether different value system - and, based on this discussion, we certainly do - I don't think either of us could claim with any pretense of impartiality that our way was the better one. So I'm not making that claim, but merely pointing out the difference.

I'd still be interested in hearing how your preacher's panties story relates to Tucker Carlson and the video store employee, given the many dissimilarities in the two cases.

19. Oh, yeah. We must remember when we take employment, we are the property of our employer.
Sheesh, aside from the fact that the guy pointedly DID NOT TELL what video the Tuckster rented, this isn't fucking medical records we're talking about here.

A video store is a public place. A video store employee is a private person--he is NOT the government. Furthermore, we sit around talking about what stock certain people own--yet I haven't heard anyone keening about how that should be "private". The man went in and rented merchandise. This is an act which is done in public.

Or should we make video rental a "brown paper bag" activity? The employee is not in any sort of fiduciary relationship with his customer. If he had that sort of obligation, he'd probably be paid better.

42. "Freedom of movie rental"??
I don't recall seeing that one in the Constitution. I DO recall seeing something called "freedom of speech".

This man's blog post was nothing more than a typical "Hey, I saw someone famous" comment. People--at least, non-famous people-- are always talking about the time they saw someone famous. Tucker should be thanking him for the publicity. It is a fact that Tucker, MSNBC, and his show pay good money--a lot of money--to publicize Tucker and his show. This man gave him a small bit of publicity for free. Tucker should be on his knees thanking the man for his altruism.

If the post had been a threat of some sort, I could understand Carlson being upset. As it was, it appears to me that Tucker is very easily scared, if the mere fact of one of the peasants talking about him frightens him to the point where he goes into the video store and threatens the said peasant. That is what Carlson did. If Tucker was so frightened by the man, the proper thing to do would be to CALL THE POLICE AND/OR CALL HIS PRIVATE SECURITY SERVICE. Carlson invaded the man's privacy and sought to curtail the man's constitutional right to free speech, and owes him, at the very least, an apology.

do you think carlson would use that business again. i know i would not use that business if i were carlson. i know i would go elsewhere and not take a chance that the guy might put stuff out another time. the employee lost a customer for this business by his own behavior. lesson learned for the employee. as an employer that owuld not be acceptable to me. that is not being appreciative to the customer for using our service. it is a failure on my part as a business owner to give to the customer what i feel is his right..... paying for my service.

33. Public figures will be blogged about.
If Carlson doesn't like it, he can change his profession to something less public. The blogger did not say anything of note about him - certainly far less than he has said since Carlson got him fired. And what was said did not reflect poorly on anyone (unless the wasp-woman was NOT Carlson's wife); rather, it showed a human side to the public figure - this is a guy who will rent a video in person rather than order it thru Netflix despite being an easily recognised public figure.

If the blogger had given out any information, at all, there might be some justification for firing him. But just because he said he saw him in a public place? Any other customer in the place could have posted the same thing, but the employee, posting anonoymously off work-hours, cannot?

As for it costing the business, it cost him what? $3/month? Is that worth the cost of an employee? I know, the customer is always right, but as a business owner you know as well as I that the customer is almost never right. A great many are, in fact, complete assholes. "The customer is always right" is an invitation for assholes to be assholes, and if businesses continue to cater to their whims they will continue to be assholes. By not letting customers abuse the employees, it teaches the assholes to be a little less...republican.

43. He is more of a victim than is Tucker Carlson.
However, the employee seems to be fairly self-confident, and he seems to be doing just fine--in spite of the fact that he lost his job due to Carlson's behavior.

Tucker Carlson went into the man's workplace and told him he would "destroy" him, just for mentioning his (Carlson's) name. That is not responsible behavior. Since Carlson was so frightened by this silly blog entry, he should have called the police. Carlson is entitled to protection if he were truly threatened, but he is not entitled to revenge. And IMO his getting the man fired was revenge.
