1. Comcast had a similar one when I worked there |
|
I love it when they try to scare us into thinking that it would be a bad thing to get rid of Human Resources

2. I worked at Home Depot briefly about 10 years ago. They were the most rabidly anti-union... |
|
and anti-workers rights place I had ever experienced. A hateful, hurtful company.

4. And they have a very dangerous work environment |
|
I won't shop there. It's a dangerous place and when people are injured, Home Depot descends with swarms of attorneys and bullies the victims.

9. Just watching the video and seeing the orange apron again made my skin crawl. I worked there... |
|
nine months before I quit. It was not the worst paying job I've ever had. ($11/hour 40 hours/week permanent 2002) But it was by far the worst job I've ever had. I would truly rather work in a car wash for minimum wage than work for them again. They bombard you with feel-good meetings and videos (and a decent starting wage/benefit package)
It becomes clear immediately that you have no rights, and never will. I knew people who had worked there 5 years and had absolutely no control over their shifts or vacation days. Work conditions were incredibly dangerous, and like a previous poster mentioned they had a team of attack-dog lawyers who were paid to make your life hell. I wouldn't have stayed there 9 days except I had bills that had to be paid (and few places were offering $11 with sick and vacation and holiday pay.
It's one of the few times in my life that I've truly felt like a whore..... more than working at Burger King, more than my years in the military, more than the working for Wells Fargo or Pac Bell.
I hadn't thought about Home Depot in years (I've gone on to new sources for my bile) but fuck! EVIL EVIL EVIL!

5. this video is FILLED with tactics designed to instill |
|
fear in the employees watching it.
Careful not to sign that union form, you never know what they'll use your signature for and your just giving it away to them!
that's just one example. absolute bullshit.

but similar to the mantra I heard at Walmart with the "open door" policy which day to day is usually anything but. The theme was everyone for themselves with the company and they glossed over the benefits as it exists but not how good it is. One person alone has little leverage, many together have much more.
