Question about boycotting Verizon... |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-18-11 07:24 AM by amyrose2712
I would like to disconnect my phone but how do I know what phone company to go to? I tried to do a search but its such a broad search. In my area the next choice is Comcast. Are they any better? Can someone give be a bit of advice to try and find out where I can go and how to determine who has the best employment/union practices? Thanks.

1. Not that AT&T is the best corporation but they have the largest unionized work force |
|
in the country (120,000 members) and it is a strong union. When they struck in 2005 it started on a Friday and workers were back on Tuesday. Check the AFL-CIO website, they have a discount program with AT&T that I think is still in effect. My DH works with AT&T and a strong union household here.
I can't imagine what is going through Verizon's mind right now. There is more than 1 union in the NE. Strange.
If you call to cancel and go with AT&T, be sure to tell Verizon why. Losing customers will be the only thing that will make them pay attention.

3. Credo dumped it's union employees a few years back |
|
Other than that they seem to be a solid D.
AT&T is the most unionized. The former CEO came up through the ranks and never fought unionization by the workers. The NEW CEO ain't so hot on unions, but he is stuck with them.
I know one of the local AT&T stores never even tried to unionize. Then the store got closed. Instead of going to another store because of a contract, they we're all let go.
