Having hard time hearing over ambient noise. I have tinnitus in both |
|
ears.
I was a radio operator, morse intercept in the service. I've had the ringing since then (late 60's). It's a pulsing chirp/ring. It just seems to be getting louder, and voices more muffled.
I will be seeing the VA doctor this month, I will see if I can get a hearing test.
It's driving my wife crazy.

1. My hearing aids have cut down on that problem significantly |
|
I'm not aware of those noises when I have the hearing aids in.
I don't know if that's standard or if I was just lucky, but there it is.

And it's still there, just not noticable with the hearing aids in.
Of course, I don't know if mine is as bad as yours. Hearing aids might be worth a try, though.

4. I had the rifle range and three plus years of copying morse code. |

It's amazing I can still hear. I tried to get the Army to check my ears but they told me I would have to extend my enlistment. After 3 years on a mountain top It was time to go home.

5. I lost my hearing in the army |

Like you I worked around weapon fire for years. As well as high speed compressors used in radars. I had tinnitus for years, then it went away. The reason it disappeared is because I was deaf by then.
Surprisingly the VA is pretty good about hearing aids these days. I bought my own through a lame insurance program for years. Then I got fed up with shelling out $3,500 every few years for BTEs. I went to the VA, filed my claim, and a few months later got fitted with new BTEs and it cost me very little.
Good luck.

6. I had HORRIBLE problems with ear ringing... |
|
..until I got the new digital hearing aids. Voila....nearly gone! It is heaven!!!! The person who fitted my aids explained to me so very clearly what caused the ringing and what the new hearing aids would do. And, boy, was she right!
Getting these aids is the BEST thing I have EVER done for myself! I wish you the best of luck and hope you have the same success I had.
