Just became a precinct delegate - anyone else a delegate? |
|
Well, I got the notice yesterday that I was elected precinct delegate in Tuesday's primary! :-) (Okay, I was going to win anyway; I was one of three people on the ballot for three spots.)
My first order of business is to represent my precinct at the county convention on Saturday. I will also represent my precinct at Democratic Party functions
Is there anything else that precinct delegates do in your state?

1. I was a precinct delegate in the last cycle. |

The MOST important function of the precinct delegate is to GET OUT THE VOTE!
You should start now, because once October/November rolls around, your daylight hours for canvassing are limited.
Identify all the dem voters in your precinct and get them 1) To the polls on election day; and 2) To your local dem club and active in the process, get some of your people to help you work your precinct.
I didn't go on the ballot this year, because strictly speaking, in Michigan there is no need for delegates, as "captains" or anyone who shows up at the county and state convention can vote on party matters. This was new last year.
I can still work the precinct.
Good for you! I hope you've got some good walking shoes!
