111. It IS a work of genius. It captures the very essence of the craziest male humour -

- that yelling! The sheer joy of hearing your brother's or mate's voice from somewhere up at "the sharp end" of some loony, illegal war. It's the way males express love for each other: humour, usually mockery!

When I speak to a friend on the phone, we usually collapse laughing and/or jeering at each other, right at the beginning. A French girl, also a translator, was baffled by my laughter, and wondered why I always laughed while I began speaking to her on the phone! I suppose it's our primitive little minds, which still find it amazing that we can talk to someone in their little den, hundreds of miles away; or thousands of miles away on a battle-field, in this case. Or even round the corner!

Because of the money on offer, advertising usually gets the best, most creative film people. But this is on a whole nother level of genius from even the most brilliant TV commercials. Visceral, man! Visceral! Well, that's my geeky way of putting it...! Of course the finale is just normal genius. My wife would be as disgusted as she is when I laugh at Laurel and Hardy.

When I saw the new ad, I didn't realize it was a parody/sequel to some pre-existing commercial, so I was just taking it on its own terms, and didn't see what was so great about it, and just thought all the phone screaming was weird and purposeless. Some kind of avant-garde campaign ad?

When I then saw the original ad, I understood the appeal of the new ad, albeit only for people who saw/liked/remembered the original ad.

Though I still didn't really get the appeal of the original ad, so I still suspect I'm the wrong demographic.
