In the mind of government critic George Will, a decline in the number of public jobs is actually a positive thing for the American economy.

At his usual position on ABC’s This Week panel discussion Sunday morning, the hardline conservative again displayed a lack of remorse to government employees losing their jobs in analyzing the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics figures. The figures released on Friday showed a net gain of 80,000 jobs to slightly lower the unemployment rate to 9%.

“The 80,000 is a net number,” said Will. “The private sector created 104,000 jobs. The public sector happily shrank by 24,000 jobs. Both of that’s good.”

Will represents the conservative belief that less public jobs will lead to more positions opening up in the private sector to spur a full economic recovery. But that dubious ideological belief has been far from the case.

1. Does it not occur to these people that with population growth, there
is an increase in governmental offices to increase their departments..i.e. hiring people to take care of the people's business? I've never understood the outlook of the George Wills. More people, more responsibility. Do they want the same people working those same jobs as back in the '50s or even the '60s?...

2. I would like to see these kinds of fucks on the street asking me for money.
I'd really don't get their lack of empathy.

3. We are just numbers to them.
They have no empathy because we are just numbers. THEY have their security and get paid to blather their nonsense on major networks...and they could really care less what happens on the streets of USA. Plain and simple. Perfect neocon/fascist/republicon ass holes. "I've got mine....FU!"

Off with all their heads! Let us eat cake, indeed!

6. Ya' know, if you listen...really listen to these blowhards -
George Will, Cokie Roberts, David Brooks, the list goes on and on..they spew out nothingness that has no substantive value whatsoever.

Any one of us on DU could go on the TV every week and blabber about stuff as if we knew what we were talking about and get paid mucho bucks for just taking up space.

I haven't watched any of the Sunday bloviaters for a couple of months now. I just decided that you could ask some wino lying in the gutter for an opinion on policy matters and get as sensible an answer.

A pox on all of 'em.

7. It would be ironic if his house were to burn down or a burglar
were to steal his property because a firefighter or policman was lad off. If the ones losing their jobs were those committing police brutality it wwould be ok, but of course that won't happen.

11. So-o
George Will: Fire BAD, Bread GOOD, Wine GOOD, Loss of Jobs in Private Sector GOOD

And the man himself is clueless!

I remember the last time I took him seriously, he prophesied how much energy we would be getting from further nuclear expansion, and how clean an energy supply it was, and how the regulations in place ensured we had nothing to worry about, and then three days later:

THREE MILE ISLAND WENT KABLOOEY!
