Views on DU: 1337 | This video is based on Gingrich's confession that the GOP has relied on talking points, buzzwords and propaganda rather than on fresh ideas. This is why the Internet is full of right-wing trolls who cannot discuss the issues pass 1 or 2 talking points. This also is why the Republicans in Congress are impotent when it comes to real solutions and ultimately will lose. They forget that they are employed to serve the People, all the people and not just rich Republicans.

1. Rec'd for all of us that had to go through this barrage of RW talking points yesterday |
|
Just sayin'. I had to drive to Michelle Bachmann land where there were billboards: END OBAMA SOCIALISM. My talking point of the day was (in conclusion to whipping their axxes- thank you DU et al): Only the feeble-minded can be manipulated by media without seeing the contradictions in their beliefs.

What is amazing is that the Right will try to justify their total use of talking points by repeating yet another talking point, "Both sides do it." Of course this isn't true as with most of their talking points. Yes, there are beliefs which we hold dear, but we can talk for hours about them without repeating one talking point. For most Right-wingers, they will spit out one talking point, if challenged they might come up with one more, but if there still is a challenge then they will more to insults.

2. K&R. Good content, word-wise but a bit hokey in the delivery department. |

The reliance on talking points is most apparent. Most cons I know ( really all I guess ) seem to throw them out and then can't hang in the debate beyond their first counterpoint: They just move on to the next in the hope it will appeal to me....and so on, and so forth.
An exchange with a friend several months ago ( a low-info type, NEVER reads a paper, blogs, just watches talking heads on the news for 15 min/day ) regarding the budget.
Him: "I'm just sick of all the bullsh---, I can't stand them all, democrats, republicans, just arguing all the time. They are gonna take away our social security"
Me: "Pretty much all republicans, and all too many democrats want to do just that. They scream like we're going broke, want SS on the table, yet forget we're throwing away money hand-over-fist on the stupid wars"
Him: "Yeah that's true, but Obama is going to take away your SS, you just watch! He hasn't done anything good! They're just arguing!"
Me: "Of course they're arguing. If one side wants to do away with SS, the other doesn't, OF COURSE they're going to argue. Do you want them not to argue just to look they're getting stuff done? You as an ex-union guy who lived through some really tough contract with a hard-ass company don't see that. What would YOU say to someone on the outside if they just told you stop arguing and agree to SOMEthing?"
Him: ( Groans angrily, than blurts tensely and angrily ) "Obama's gonna take away our guns....you just watch!"
