When I first heard about mandates, I had the same reaction as some others: why should my taxes support these greedy insurance companies?

Then I gave it some thought. They will be funded with tax dollars. In addition, there will be competition. The inevitable result, as far as I can fathom, is that the U.S. taxpayers will eventually own them. :shrug:

Howard Dean's remarks on television about how this roughly parallels the Swiss health care system further convinced me that this is the case. There are different ways that countries have constructed their health care systems: Some get rid of private insurance companies altogether, while others leave them in place, regulate them, and funnel federal money into them, basically buying them out.

That's probably why Speaker Pelosi said what she did yesterday when asked about the public option; she said that the insurance companies are going to wish there was a public option when all is said and done.

have no clue about...and so I'm thinking there is probably a lot more good in them,
then is actually credited.

I have only read parts of the bills, and it's not easy reading.....
but the experts seem to approve of it much more than the laymen who do a lot of talking,
but only because they have the microphones.
