The worst sin is not that some in the left wing blogosphere have become reflexively anti Obama. After all it doesn't hurt him he just brushes off his shoulder and goes on to the next fire. They raging hysteria from the few loud voices on the far far left frames Obama as someone more in the middle (even though he isn't) so it actually helps him.
The worst sin of all of the "warmonger-corporatist-sellout-meme" is that it is exceedingly boring.
It is reaching a level of banality that is the political equivalent of WWE and NASCAR (think about it- the same tired tripe coming around and around just like Jimmy Johnson's car going round and round the track).
If your going to bait us into a real flame bait discussion you really are going to have to come up with something that is at least remotely reasonable and sprinkle some facts with some reasonably relevent links.
Firedoglake? Really? That 15 minutes didn't even last 10, and that was 9 minutes too long.
Its rather obvious that a bunch of Obama haters are peeking over our shoulders on a consistent basis so here's the bottom line. If your going to get us to engage with a really hate filled Obama rant your going to have to improve your game and come up with something above the 9th grade level.
After all the worst sin is not that you make an ass of yourself its that you have become unbearably boring.

I've seen of fdl..Liar dog lake. I still get emails from them that I tried to cancel but now I've decided..what the heck..I'll see what the enemy is up to. Well, it was "Huge scandal brewing at the White House". Turns out it was Johnathan Gruber who was on a "research grant". http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=433&topic_id=120994&mesg_id=120997

I was thinking a few days ago that the "warmonger" theme might just help the President with "moderates" because it separates him from the far left, which the right wing control of nearly all media (whether overt or subtle) in most areas of the country has taught them to fear. Separating President Obama from his far left detractors really isn't a draw back to most people in this country. The folks on DU that rant and rave must not know anyone outside the very "blue" areas of the country, they are either trolls or incredibly isolated, or will profit in some way from a Republican Presidency in 2012, through various liberal blogs or something. I believe a lot of this is profit driven, those outlets that cater to the "left" have to do much better during a Republican administration because they would attract more Democrats out of shear fear and outrage than during a Democratic administration when at least a lot of what we want is in process. I know I am not checking every liberal news outlet every few hours now like I did during the Bush years to see what horrible thing was being done in our name since two hours before.

3. But he doesn't TOTALLY brush them off... |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 10:51 AM by Clio the Leo
... I think it's safe to say that the reason why Union leaders were at the WH this week including yesterday while the Congressional negotiations were going on .... is due in part to the BS stirred up by Miss Jane.
And that's a GOOD thing .... not that Jane stirring up BS is necessarily a good thing, but that the President knows he needs to bring all sides to the table and isn't afraid to listen to his critics.
On one hand, labor leaders are legitimately interested in protecting the best interest of American workers ... on the other hand, the President knows without Union support, he's screwed. He's ALWAYS known this. It's one of the reasons he worked with them when he was running for State Senate.
So the fact that he didn't brush his critics off and welcomed some of them to sit in on perhaps the most crucial phase of the bill's progress is a VERY good thing. Primarily because it makes for a better bill ... but also it demonstrates why he is an effective leader. Least importantly, it confirms my vote was for the correct man.
.... forgive me for going off on a tangent, I agree with your overall post but have been wanting to point this idea out and you have me the chance. ;)

4. The thing about the Unions are they are not foolish enough to work against their interests |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-14-10 11:05 AM by NJmaverick
so they will work WITH the President and the Unions are busting their humps to help ensure Ted Kennedy's seat stays on our side of the aisle. Union leadership has been around a long time and they know it's a bad idea to take down the party that offers the American workers the best chance for positive change.

sorry to disagree with someone (finally) on my side of this issue but I will never believe Jane had any impact on the the reaction of the unions.
I'm curious about whether this crap has driven away ppl on the www. Is traffic down here? At Jane's?

7. I don't believe that FDL is having any impact outside of DU |
|
The President makes a regular habit of bringing everyone together and the logs show that one of his most frequent visitors is SEIU President.
I would guess that most union Presidents aren't even aware of FDL.

It's pathetically boring. We have ourselves a real President who is looking at the big Picture..one who isn't perfect but I don't care.
We are so fortunate to have him and his intrepid team taking care of business not as usual after the meltdown of the bush-cheney coup.
And, I feel lucky to have met all these people on DU from across our country who do support the President to do his job.

15. I'm THIS close to posting a massive flameout thread in GD. |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-06-10 01:23 AM by Arkana
I want to just fucking bust heads.
Obama isn't going to establish a public option via executive order--it's going to be up to Congress to make it happen. And you know what? Pushing for it in a separate bill is a GOOD idea. Yeah, that's right. I said it. It's a GOOD IDEA.
You fuckers are half the goddamn reason we don't get ANYTHING done--you and your darlings like Dennis goddamn Kucinich. At least Raul Grijalva was willing to sit down and LISTEN to the President without screaming "WARMONGER! CORPO-FASCIST SELLOUT!" in his face. You're as unwilling to compromise as your counterparts on the right, but the WORST part of it is that you refuse to believe that change doesn't fucking happen over-goddamn-night. IT TAKES TIME. Jesus, you fuckknuckles spent the last eight years with us railing about Bush's "unitary executive", but now that Obama is in power you want him to be the liberal Bush? Not gonna happen. He does ONE FUCKING THING you don't like and all of a sudden he's persona non grata. It's a damn good thing the Progressive Caucus isn't as fucking batshit insane as you are.
And you seem to forget that for all those "Democrats", there are a remarkable number of Blue Dogs and Republicans masquerading as Democrats among them. There are scumbags like Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson who refuse to work with their own party. We have an opposition on the right more virulent, hateful, and well-funded than during the goddamn CLINTON years, except now there's a nice fat dose of RACISM in the mix. And go ahead--blame that favorite boogeyman of yours, Rahm Emanuel, for "creating" them, when really it was Howard Dean who recruited many of those House Dems to run in 2006 and 2008.
Oh, and that's another thing. Rahm Emanuel is human. He's flesh and blood, just like you and me. He puts his goddamn underpants on one leg at a time, just like you and me. But the way you fuckers talk about him you'd think he was Darth goddamn Sidious, slowly controlling his "puppet" Obama from behind the scenes and manipulating the agenda and sandbagging health care and the terror trials and making labor hate the President and secretly feeding editorials to newspapers to bolster his reputation.
You outrageaholics have ruined this website for everyone who doesn't wake up in the morning so angry that blood is shooting out their ears. Are you fucking happy now?

I have to disagree on one point. I think Rahm is feeding those stories to the WP because he's being forced out of this Administration. He'll probably resign after HCR is signed. I think that's one reason the Pres looks a little unhappy recently - Rahm's perfidy. ..but what do I know. I'm just guessing.

IIRC, he didn't want the job to begin with and he's not with his family. I think he only planned on staying a year or so from the get-go. I could be wrong.

he didn't bring his family to DC because he wasn't going to stay for more than a year.
Interesting to know what he will do now(is he really leaving?)..because he was a Rep from an Illinois District and left to become Obama's COS.

I really think that it's true. It does not matter who is President, if it were Dean or Kucinich they'd have problems with Congress too, worse ones, and they'd be dragging them over the coals, too. They are addicted to being outraged.
