Did you know that there are two ways to overcome a filibuster and one doesn't need 60 votes. |
|
At any given time you can invoke cloture (which does not stop debate) with 2/3 of the Senators present. Other facts about the rules of filibuster. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x170401

2. The Democratic Senators know this rule, I am sure, which tells me, they don't have a majority |
|
The party must be so divided, that they can't get 50 votes to pass what the House is asking for.

3. Your comment was referring to the HC bill. |
|
My point is larger. Stop with the polite filibuster. If they are going to filibuster every bill then make them actually sit in the chamber and filibuster it.
Start with the jobs bill and make them actually filibuster ever single piece that they are unhappy with.
We will soon have majority decisions back in the Senate.

4. I agree. I would love to see them actually try to stand up there and keep talking |
|
The more they talk, the more they sink their own cause.
I'm also in favor of bypassing the filibuster altogether now. Especially w.r.t. Obama's nominees.
