While I disagree with this drilling decision, I knew it was coming.. |
|
and the President never tried to fool us about it.
What I wonder is why we Americans think its a travesty to drill offshore in America, but we are perfectly comfortable using oil that comes directly from the blood of villages in Nigeria and other places around the world.
Now I'm not saying all of us who care about the environment should never drive cars or use petroleum products, but when I hear environmental groups call this a "wholesale assault on the oceans" I wonder if they take themselves seriously.

1. I agree with you... I don't like offshore drilling but he stated his position. |

We must buy GM -- that is what you will hear despite... well you know. BTW -- I own two GM cars.

Everything he and Salazar said points to the fact that drilling is no solution at all and that we will have to transition to alternative energies. All he's doing is removing the talking point from the debate, seems to me.

5. We import the most from Canada |
|
Isn't it special how they've always got their finger wagging at us, but nobody ever looks at what's going on with their oil development or clearcutting the Boreal. And the pollution in China's rivers from our tech waste. Takes nimby to a whole new level.

6. That's the problem with "purists" |
|
They constantly ignore reality and the flaws in their own thinking, like ignoring the pollution created by irresponsible drilling in other countries. We just aren't going to get purity in the real world. The Republicans are obsessed with keeping people sexually pure and they run up bills in "bondage clubs". And it will take more popcorn than the word produces to watch what's going on with the Catholic Church and their "pure" priests. It just isn't reality.
