I love how Arlen Specter is hated by both parties |
|
That's what you get when opportunistically play both sides.

1. I never had all that much against Arlen |
|
He was far from the worse Republican they had. I've seen worse Democrats too.

3. I don't think he gets it here in PA; Democrats don't trust him, republicans are angry with him, |
|
and many Independents see him as an "election only politician" while others are going the teabagger route and will ignore him.

5. I like Specter, but I'll agree that he's a chameleon politician |
|
I've always liked Specter, I felt kind of bad last time he was up for reelection when I voted against him in the primary and then the general election to (I turned 18 right before the primary, and figured why not registered republican to vote in it and give us an easier person to beat).
I will agree with you though that Specter's voting record shows he's somewhat of a chameleon, changing how he votes based on electoral pressure at the time.

6. I actually like Arlen Specter. I don't think he played both sides |

against the middle. I believe he is an oddity, a person I would call a Golden-Meaner. If you don't know, that's from Aristotle, who believed that in all things, you ignore the extremes on either side of an issue and head for the middle. I believe we would do well with a Golder-Meaner Party, and I love the play on words.

7. Actually m his popularity here in PA seems to be growing - the man |
|
certainly is a master politician if nothing else, and has supposedly done a lot of things for his area...He is very vell connected to all the right important people as well, which is the most important thing in politics...although, as George Burns said,"Sincerity is the hardest thing to find in a politician...but once you can fake that, you can do anything...."
Good night, George. mark

10. If I'm not mistaken he said the Republican Party left HIM. I can see a LOT of more honorable Repub's |
|
would feel that way, for sure. I'm surprised there aren't a couple of good ones left in their party who would do the same, although I can't name any other good ones. Many people had hope for Olympia Snow and Susan Collins.
I respect him for his decision to bear the insults and attacks from dirty, dishonest, unprincipled, classless Republicans and swallow his pride, and cross the aisle.

15. wish someone would follow his advice.... |
|
Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Penn.) urged his Democratic colleagues over the weekend to unite around a plan that would allow them to move forward with health care legislation using a process that requires only 51 votes.
and he had very nice things to say about Max Cleland...
but can't forgive him on the single bullet theory
