President Obama must now suspend DADT discharges via executive order
No excuses, no delays, no triangulation, no obfuscation, no lies or propaganda.

He said he would use his executive powers to halt the discharges should the repeal fail in this Congress.

It has failed.

Mr. President, keep your promises.

The LGBT community, abused and shouted down by your administration and supporters, are watching you during this very critical time.

You're now with us or against us.

10. The repeal effort is not yet dead.
That said, its prospects are dubious at best, and he'd better have an alternative prepared if it does die.

Hell no he won't. He doesn't keep many of his other campaign promises, why the hell would he keep this one?

14. I would love for it to happen, but seriously doubt that it will
Obama is acting very much like the petulant child these days, chewing out the left for holding him to not just his promises, but to do the right and moral thing. Apparently he is adverse to that, and thus seems set to take out his anger on his base.

16. I agree - but...
He should first announce that his administration is withdrawing it's appeal of the Riverside CA District Court decision, because they accept the fact that the judge is correct: DADT is unconstitutional.

After DADT is formally and legally dead as a result of pulling the appeal, he should then craft a non-discrimination Executive Order, sign it, and put an end to this idiocy.

It would be both good policy AND good politics and would benefit him enormously.

19. He absolutely should.
It's so frustrating to be right about these things, again and again and again. But when we say one word, people scream at us about it, as if it isn't our lives and our community.

What has to happen to get people to actually listen to what we're saying?

coming along, as soon as he thinks of one. The next few days will be interesting. If this promise is not kept he needs to be gone.

20. He's not with us.
If he'd sell out the middle class and social security, there's no way he will stick his neck out for a bunch of queers. Last year he said it offended his conscience to have tax cuts for the super rich. He chastised us for reminding him of that promise... what do you suppose his reaction would be about this??

Plus according to one poster here today, he probably won't do it to "punish" us for our disloyalty. Please tell me whether to laugh or cry about that little gem.

Hard to muster an loyalty right now... Who is loyal to us?
