Whatever happened to sending through the middle class tax cuts through first?
Someone posted it here and then I heard it on the TV but now no more.

The idea was to put them through and make the Rethugs vote, "NO" so as to have it on record, (plus I would think that some of them would be swayed to vote "YES" so they don't seem like Scrooge), as to them saying "NO" to the middle class.

And then they were supposed to take it apart and have those Rethugs say "NO" to everything.

10. And Obama should have immediately boarded AF1 and flown to the hometowns of the no voters to LBJ
their asses - done interviews with local news teams, rallies, etc.

People don't want a President, they want an actor playing one on TV.

it already happened, let alone the rest of America.

4. If I were Pelosi...
I would bring that same bill up every day, make the GOP vote it down EVERYDAY. Two times a day on Fridays. Then recess for the holidays. Let America chew on that for a few weeks, How the GOP Voted down tax cuts for the middle class those who need it, to hold out for the 2%.

29. He can do it once every 48 hours
Once every 24 if he (or somebody he deputes) also votes against cloture with the GOP.

Since a political message board like this doesn't for the most part seem to remember that he did it in an extraordinary session on Saturday, it's pretty ridiculous to claim this would get noticed by the general public.

Then at the end of the session The Tan Man can tell America that as soon as the new Congress is installed the Republicans will reduce taxes for everybody.

and they won't budge, especially after dec. 31st.

getting them to agree to anything in our lame duck session will be a miracle.

6. Uh, that's exactly what they did
They put just the middle class tax cuts up to $250,000 up for a vote. It was filibustered.

Then they put Schumer's compromise measure of extending the tax cuts up to $1 million. It was filibustered.

This happened last Saturday.

Where you been?

7. See how much attention it got. Yeah that will rouse the masses.
You are probably more up on it than the vast majority of the population and didn't hear a peep about it.

Such a devastating vote for the Republicans to make. Give me a break.

9. "If only we make them vote against it, they will fold!"
Where the fuck have these people been the last two years? We make them vote all the time. They vote NO and receive no negative consequences. Then people who claim to be well informed come on this board and say "Why don't we make them vote no!?!"

I mean, are these people kidding me?

31. Going into their districts and doing news interviews with the 6 oclock news bashing them
getting op eds in their local paper.

Showing up with AF1 and holding rallies in their home town against them registering voters and cranking up a real opponent for them in 2012.

It's called being LBJ instead of Jimmy Carter.

14. It is fairly shocking, here especially
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 12:04 PM by Egnever
This is far from the first issue this has happened with here though. Its been a constant stream of ignorance for months now.

I blame the media mostly as the narrative has been set since the election and most people don't have time to question the media.

Someone said if you repeat a lie often enough people will believe it...well here we are today. I think they were right.

19. It was sent through!
it was voted down in the senate. As has damn near every other peice of progressive legislation.

I swear people are screaming Obama is a sell out over and over without a clue of what he has done or what the senate has done to block him.

Its sad but understandable considering the state of our media.
