There is a filibuster going on and not one US media site has reported it, exception NPR
A few US blog sites have mentioned it in passing. ABC news blog called it two hours of tax bill complaints (when it was at the four hour mark). The Slate blog called it Sanders and Brown Mount an Actual Filibuster (Sort of) Against the Tax Deal

But other than the blogs, only NPR and the Vancouver Sun have reported the filibuster.

If US media doesn't report it, I guess our rich elite are hoping to act as if it didn't happen.

10. The Tucson Citizen just put out a short piece entitled "Filibuster"
http://tucsoncitizen.com/in-the-aggregate/2010/12/10/filibuster/

This one stars Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who is making a stand against the "compromise" that the White House made with Congressional Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans.

I don't know how long it will last, but you can watch it on the C-SPAN2 video feed on the cspan.org website.

Sad to say, the best Democrat in the Senate may not be a Democrat at all...

4. I am listening to Bernie
and love him but how is this a filibuster when the bill hasn't been brought up in the Senate yet? Maybe I'm wrong on this but I would think it would have to be as it actually comes to a vote which won't be until Monday at 3pm. Stopping the actual vote is the filibuster.

7. Stopping debate is a filibuster as well.
That is what Republicans have been doing now for two years. They won't even allow a bill to the floor to be debated let alone voted upon.

31. Ok, just wish he would continue
and stop the vote from happening. Don't think that's in the cards though at least for the Senate.

9. He's doing it for support for the real vote next week
He's already added Landrieu and wanted to show that he was serious about his intent to stop this

32. I think Sherrod Brown was there
earlier too. Can he get the votes? I imagine that Mr. Chinless has rounded up enough to compensate for the dems who will vote no. Landrieu seemed to indicate that she didn't like it but would be forced to vote yes for the middle class breaks. That's the way I read her.

If they wanted to, they could have this done in minutes. All of them would drop everything to cover a police chase down Ventura Boulevard.
