Anybody Care To Help Discuss The Political Problems With The Tax Deal ???
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 08:41 PM by WillyT
I'll start.

If it works... and policy-wise that would be a good thing...

Politically, it will be spun as "Tax Cuts (Estate, Dividend, or Otherwise) for the Rich, RESCUED AMERICA !!!

And how does THAT help in a re-election campaign if you're a Democrat?

I ask, because... although we (I) didn't get what I thought we needed in the HCR Battle (Single Payer/Public Option) we did get some pretty significantly good stuff.

But it came back to bite us in the ass in the 2010 election.

It may have been the "right thing to do", but it cost us dearly.

Why won't that happen again in 2012?

Discuss.

2. cause and effect
the economy bit the majority party in the ars, not health care, because the economy is controlled by the opposition and they are willing to sity on their money for two more years. The only solution is to disvest them of enough money to turn the economy around.

3. I can only imagine the authority with which the R's will kick BO in the teeth over this
Maybe a cloistered convent will accept me for the duration. I think that politically it's going to be really ugly. Given the revelation that they're already gloating over the trap they set when the Bush tax cuts got passed we know what's up politically.

After all, more than anything they want to defeat him in '12. 'Nuff said for what they want. How they try to achieve it won't be pretty.

7. Or Else There Has to Be No Way Out of It
like this one.

Raise everybody's taxes and cutting off unemployment will throw the economy completely into the shitter by the 2012 elections.
Repiglickin media would ensure that Obama and the Democrats got all of the blame for this.
We'd get President Palin or President Huckabee or whatever other nutbar gets the Repig nomination.

This way we have a chance, though not a very good one.

8. Health care bit us because they compromised that away also.
If there were real health care reform the Dems would still be in control but they watered down any crackdown on the insurance industry.
