I hope this isn't too obvious. |

The drive towards states rights, is all about funding. Should empowered and isolated states fall on hard times, they lack any form of floating a deficit. This is also why they call for a return to a gold standard. This, in conjunction with the two santa tactic, achieves Norquists aim of starving Gov, until it can be killed for good.
So, they intend to make States the sole party responsible for all social debts. In addition, those states with additional burdens, will be used as object lessons of unfrugality. Causing a stampede to lowest common denominator states. The poor will flee their states, and the rich will flock to libertarian distopia nightmares.

1. I really hate how people know nothing about history |

although the Civil War was techniquely about slavery, the south also wanted to rights of the states to decide what happened,(Ironically the congress of the confederacy did more to end that then the union did in the end). Giving the States the right to do what ever they want didn't work then, it WILL NOT work now.
