Finally, I set up a shop on Etsy! It's been a learning experience.
I've learned many things the biggest of which is that submissions must be made frequently, if not daily, to keep items somewhere close to the top and not being lost in thousands of pages. But, I love Etsy's search options and the community there! That's been fun.

It's getting me back into crafting which I had done hot and heavy for years and then due to circumstances, re-marriage and lots of business and living locations, I just couldn't work. Though I'm literally working off a table in my "kitchen" in a 1940's Texas hill country 'cottage' it's a start....again. I'd appreciate any and all critiques....www.snappyturtlestudio.etsy.com Thanks!

4. Thanks Allegro! Well, I think I have figured out the program so for the
last few days I've been working on a new product and a plan. The plan is to keep listing....every day that I can.....even if I have to re-list....just to keep the site from sinking until I get some sort of customer base. I hope it works! BTW...LOVE you oragami pieces...SO-O original!!

8. Hi Allegro and everyone else!
I haven't been on here in a while--I needed a vacation from DU! ;>)

Good luck with etsy, I've got 2 shops, and I've sold more from my vintage and repurposed shop than my beadweaving---but that's the most fun to do.

To add to the recommendations from others here, I would suggest you get hooked up with a 'team'-- I'm on cccoe ( california crafters) and ebw--etsy beadweavers. The groups sometimes have 'rules', but most of the sellers in the groups are very supportive and helpful---we make treasuries and help promote each other.

later, artist crafters!

5. Cute shop!
I've been on Etsy since August of last year and really enjoy it. I find that I don't participate in political talk and such there because customers lurk and post there, so I try to remain neutral. I come here to fly my proud Democrat flag. :)

Here are my suggestions:

You learned quickly about renewing listings. Use the "renew" function if you don't have anything new to list, and you only need to renew one or two things a day. Under "My Etsy" go to "Expiration Dates," and from there you can just renew what you want.

Use all of your tags, you get 14 - I suggest using the theme colors, the word "gift," and perhaps "figurine."

Join a team. Texas has a very "out there" Etsy team, they're hard to miss. They can give you valuable information about Etsy shows, meetups, etc.

That's all I have for now. Your things are so cute!

Hopw to get back into it with early retirment--looking at the work of people who really know what they are doing is inspiring.

Snappy turtle and Green Eyed Lefty. I will link you from my blog. I am hoping to start up an etsy site soon. Working on amassing some inventory first.
