Has anyone tried to make those pendant bezel things with the pretty paper? |

Like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/46133186/reflected-flamingos-photo-glass-pendant?ref=v1_other_1This is from a friend of mine's shop. You have to buy a bunch of things to get started but it sounds like an awful lot of fun.

1. One idea I saw a number of years ago |
|
and I can't remember where, was to find glossy, illustrated magazines. One would cut out a longish triangle, paint the less attractive side with glue (Elmer's and wallpaper paste worked), and roll it up lengthwise ending with the point, around a piece of wire. Then the wire was carefully withdrawn and the "bead" was left to dry. Once dry, it was coated with varnish or shellac, and made a beautiful, abstract, colored bead. I did some experimenting with them and rather liked the results as far as looks went, but alas, they were too light to use to finish off anything but the most gossamer of scarves, something I generally don't do.
This variety of paper bead can be used to wonderful effect making jewelry and is a great project for kids.
