They tell me crows are attracted to anything that is shinny. Its genetic.
I do not know the name of the part; its likely that no person on earth knows the name of the part, but it should have a name in the Dealer's Parts book. Now here is something you will find about many motor vehicles that have been on the market a few years. Sometimes they change the look of trim with model year changes and so sometimes you can look back a year or two in the parts books and find that they used to make the same part chromed. So that's one possibility.
The next possibility for having your heart's desire is that you can have plastic 'chromed' at lots of different shops. So, can the bike be operated with this thing removed?
Just as a side note, chroming can take an absurdly long time but a couple of weeks ago I ran across a shop that did their work on a schedule basis that seemed like a good idea. It doesn't get your stuff done any sooner but it gets it back to you faster. Basically you call these people and they set a date for your job. You keep you part until the last minute then you ship it to them so as to arrive a minimum of one day before - they promise to do it on time and return it by next-day on that same afternoon. So you're out a part for 3 days, but at great expense. Problem is I didn't bookmark the site so you'll have to search for it yourself. Otherwise here's a link to a place in TN that plates plastic:
