Berkeley Anthropology Study on News-Comedy Looking for Participants to Interview. |
|
Dear Democratic Underground (and anthropologists!?), UC Berkeley is conducting a study about how news-comedies are acting as a counter-control to propagandism in the mainstream news media. The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, and Countdown with Keith Olbermann are, we think, central to this new humorous approach to news. But, we want to hear what you have to say. What’s happening in the world of news as comedy, comedy as news? We invite anyone interested to send an email to berkeleynewscomedystudy@gmail.com for an interview by email or phone. Thanks so much.

1. Berkeley Study on Daily Show, Colbert, Olbermann - News as Comedy |
|
Hello to all,
News as Comedy, Comedy as News -- So What!?
The Colbert Report and The Daily Show sparked a group of students at UC Berkeley to ask what it means to have mainstream news and politics to be laughable, and for sharp critique to come mostly from comedy-news shows. The Colbert Report and The Daily Show seem central to this new humorous approach to news. But, we want to ask as wide an audience as possible what they think this means. What is happening in the world of news as comedy, comedy as news? Does it matter? Can it do anything? Anything!? Why does it matter to you? We invite anyone interested to send an email to berkeleynewscomedystudy@gmail.com to give opinions, answer some questions, and let us know what you think.
Thanks,
