eBay seems to be *very* flexible with the time frames they post

To be specific, I placed a bid on an item last night and it said the time remaining was '2 days 9 hours'. That would have made the auction end at around seven AM Saturday and frankly that was one reason I made a bid, I thought that would have given me an edge with the the auction ending while not many people were on line. I just looked at the item a few minutes ago and they now show the auction ending at around one PM Saturday when many more potential bidders would be looking at it. Now this is of course a good thing for the seller but it changes the scenario for the bidder. I will probably stay with it but that changes things as far as I'm concerned quite a bit from the original situation.

3. I know.

That's why I went by the time remaining instead of the time of day. I'm fairly certain I did the math correctly.

4. Did you check the eBay message board to see if they are doing their usual downtime?
Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 01:40 AM by Whoa_Nelly
They do a systems check downtime for 1-3 hours on Friday nights (actually around 1 AM Saturday)

Am wondering if that has anything to do with the end time being "moved"

5. No I didn't, thanks.

That could be the answer. I wasn't aware they did that. I'll have to keep that in mind in the future when that time interval falls between the time I place a bid and when the sale of the item ends. Like I said above, I thought I might have gotten a little bit of an edge by the auction ending early in the AM but it didn't work out that way.
