Heads up Bidenites - Joe will be on in 1/2 hr (10 EST) |
|
to say goodbye to the Senate :(
CSpan 2, but I imagine all the networks will be covering it.
Make sure you check out Tay Tay's thread. She has noted another possible Biden sighting.

1. Not a Biden sighting, but |
|
How nice it can be to hear others say how much they appreciate you and your work. It can be rare to hear that in life and even rarer in politics.
Perhaps a tissue or two should be near at hand.

Thank you so much for letting us know about all of this. ((hugs))
How's your new job? Still working for a certain politician?

All things come to an end, and that is also true for the 2008 campaign. (There were those of us who doubted this would ever happen, lol, but it did.)
I will let you know what is next for me. I am sure that you join me in the extreme joy of watching the new Democratic team take charge. This is what we worked for and it is profoundly gratifying to see our hopes being given voice in this new government.
And thank you for your kind words. I appreciate them.

7. Hmmm, I sense a disturbance in the force here |
|
As is often the case in the Senate, schedules change. I just heard Sen. Reid state today's schedule. I hope that there are other floor speeches today, but I am no longer sure of that.
Sigh, the Senate is a dynamic place in terms of schedule. We can but live with it.

9. McConnell actually saying kinder words about Biden than Reid. |
|
Even teasing him about his locquashisness (spelling?!?!)
McConnell also talked about important legislation he has worked with Joe.
Very sincere, even a little emotional.
I'm pleasantly surprised.

10. My last intrusion on you for today. Where to find this video |
|
C-Span has an outstanding video service that places the entire US House or Senate proceedings into a searchable database. Those of you unable to watch this live on C-Span2 can access the speech anytime on C-Span http://www.c-spanarchives.org/congress/?q=node/77539&hors=s

12. Joe telling stories about his experiences |
|
but he could shorten it a bit....
Eh - maybe he is just enjoying his last minutes giving his final speech on the Senate floor as a Senator.

16. What you really need to watch is the last few minutes. |
|
He spoke for 45 minutes :P but it's the last few minutes that summed up his whole career.

20. Courtesy of Clio - Biden's last sentence-- |
|
"I came here to fight for civil rights...." "and I leave you to serve our Nation's first African American President. The 'arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.' ..... I yield the floor." Beautifully said.
