Was I the only one that was yelling at Brian Williams when he interviewed Joe
for his Inside the Whitehouse special?

He was kinda dismissive, except for those gaffes... at least he did take a minute to honor Beau's service.

1. no brian williams should not have done that negative approach to biden - it sucked and influences
others - it is the standard bully approach to shaming another person - easily recognizable by some who are knowledgeable about that psychological manipulation -

2. Well said 2Design - it was such a put-down.

Psychological manipulation is exactly what it was. Williams was pretty abusive to Biden during the debates as well.
I keep waiting for the day when Joe gives them (all the members of the media that are on his case) a piece of his mind... you know he's thinking it.

4. Joe has taken so much crap ever since he became VP
It is unbelievable that he can restrain himself as well as he does. I guess he loves what he is doing and figures that is the price he has to pay. Al Gore took a lot of crap too. It seems that the VP's role is to take the crap that the media is reluctant to throw at the President. A little respect now and then would be nice.

14. Unless your Cheney, of course.
Then you get to hide for 8 years & on the rare occasion you do step out of your lair, you get lobbed a few softball questions by the MSM. After your policies dumped the country into the shitter & the voters kick you & your party to the curb, you openly criticize the new guy in charge, with the MSM salivating over your every word.

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

15. Hi there!
Haven't seen you around in a while.

The whole Cheney thing has taken a direction I could never have predicted. I would never have thought he would expose himself to so much media attention. If all this was a movie, I'd find it preposterous, unless it was a comedy. AND to make it even more juicy, Liz gets into the game. I'll be casting the movie in my head all day!

Who are you going to cast as Cheney? And of course you'll cast The Rock Obama as President Obama, right? ;)

Cheney will be a tough one to cast.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about The Rock for Obama.......

18. How 'bout Jon Voigt as Cheney?
He is even starting to look like him
(sorry about the big pic, I don't feel like messing around making it smaller)

Creepy actor and estranged father of Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight, had a piece run yesterday in the Washington Times that is absolutely insane, not to mention alarmist. It plays into every misgiving about Obama and magnifies it twenty times, relying heavily on neo-McCarthyism by bringing up Rev. Wright yet again, as well as other “shady characters,” Obama has some sort of association with.

And he's almost as crazy as Cheney.

but he'd have to learn how to snarl out of one side of his mouth. Yeah, I think he might do.

22. I'll bet Dan Akroyd could do a good Cheney!

Denzel for Obama? Or is he too flashy? I really like Harry Lennix, too & Carl Lumbly has been a fave since MANTIS.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0525855/ Lumbly

Now, the $64 question: Who plays VP Biden?

23. Of course Denzel was the first actor who
came to mind - God knows, he's "cool" enough, but I'm afraid he is too well known, so that people might see Denzel instead of Obama. He's a good enough actor he probably could nail it though. His Malcolm X was spot on. Lennix looks good, but Lumbly looks older than Obama and a little hard.

Yeah, Dan Akroyd probably would make a great Cheney.

As for Joe, that's a tough one. I haven't a clue.

21. I would like to know that too.
I am so sick of the MSM gaffe crap. It's all they focus on with Joe. They actively look for clips that they can set up as a gaffe. I hardly see any mention of him on MSM, & never a word about the good work he does, but Cheney the Torturer farts & it makes news. :eyes: Our media is so fucking complicit they should be on trial too. Opps, what do I mean by the word "too"? No one else is on trial, either! :grr: :grr: :grr:

I've had to turn the TV off. My husband still likes it on in the background, but I limit how much time he can have it. I've also limited my internet/DU time & you know what? I'm in a better mood.

Ignorance is bliss, isn't it?

:hi:

24. MSNBC has let up on Joe this past week,
but I think it's because they've been promoting MTP's "exclusive interview" with the VP. I haven't heard the word "gaffe" all week. Hopefully this interview will change the atmosphere for a while.

You are wise to cut back on news and politics. It is much healthier.

suppose to deliver.

3. And Williams was so deferential to Obama
which is understandable, because he is president, but its as if he HAS to lay into someone and Joe is everyone's fall guy. I was giving the viewers what he thought they wanted to see - beat up on Joe. That way no one can accuse him of doing a "fluff piece" on the White House. I am so disappointed in Williams.

6. Pat - wasn't it Williams that called Biden a racist in one of the last debates?
The one where Obama defended Biden?

I know it was Williams that asked Biden if he was going to be able to keep his mouth shut, when Biden answered with that hysterically funny "Yes".

eh - I *used* to be a fan of Williams once upon a time.

8. I can't recall
I used to adore Brian Williams and his visits to the Daily Show were hysterical. I've overlooked a lot of things, but his treatment of Joe just comes across as a lame attempt to throw some controversy into the mix.

So many in the media have been blasted (justifiably) for not asking the Bush administration hard questions, so I think now they're trying to compensate with the Democrats, Joe being the number ONE target.

In the past, Joe cut off the media when they got out of line. Representing the administration, he can't do that anymore, which has got to be driving him insane. Joe's not one to pull punches. I wish he'd run in 2004. That was his time and there was no one as ready for the WH in the Democratic party.

5. This is what i wrote in GDP the night of the show...
What a douche he (Brian Williams) was. Not so subtly spewing right-wing talking points the whole time.

-Bush couldn't have given a speech in the Middle East because 9/11 happened on his watch and not because he is an asshole.
-Questioning Obama for not being serious enough in the Oval Office.
-Questioning Obama for going out in NYC and California, meanwhile Bush spent the majority of his time on vacation.

And why does this self-important, smirky, Williams think he is a comedian with all the jokes...i.e."Bring a Shovel to greet the daughter boyfriend"

I also don't like the way he took the easy way out and spent the whole Biden segment characterizing him as a gaffe-machine. Brilliant insight there buddy. And by the way, that comment Biden made about Obama needing a teleprompter was NOT a gaffe moron. It was obvious sarcasm directed at all those haters accusing possibly the most eloquent POTUS we ever had of needing a teleprompter.

Lucky the Obama's and team stole the show.

Rant off.

Needless to say, I was going crazzzzy inside not having DU as a place to vent. Thanks for venting for me!

About the teleprompter joke, it's obvious that these pundits have NO sense of humor, or brains, if they didn't get it.

9. They're not stupid
They knew what the joke meant. They were all on a vigil to catch Joe making a remark that they could turn into a lame news story. And they get big bucks to distort and disrespect our leaders.

I think its time to start writing NBC and MSNBC. They are becoming more successful every day and they need to know they are going to lose a lot of viewers if they don't get their act together.

13. They are determined to give the public what it thinks it wants.
The problem is the media creates that "want" in the first place and then keeps perpetuating it until people accept it as true. The media's job is (or was) to report and/or comment, not create.

Watching Bush clear that brush was hysterical. He didn't know what he was doing - it was all PR crap. What pathetic excuse for a human being. He's probably thinking, "Thank god I don't have to go to damn ranch anymore."
