He was asking why Joe always gets skewered and I said it's because people don't want to take shots at Obama, so they take shots at Joe. I said that Joe gets tagged as a gaffe machine because the truth is now considered a gaffe--example: When Joe said to avoid public trans.

When I first heard about it, I thought "oh crap, you didn't", but it turned out to be a very positive story.
Good point about Joe basically taking the shots for the president and that is part of what VPs do. Of course Joe takes them so graciously with that big smile of his!
