My two cents on the Lat Am forum: Don't ingratiate the thread hijackers.

There's a reason the hijackers are here. Please don't ingratiate them.

Their work is to diffuse, distract, discourage, dilute, destroy the topics many would like to discuss.

If the distractions they use are so important to them, let them start their own discussion threads on those topics.

We know the mods aren't going to respond to the hijackings or hijackers, and never have.

DU has a very useful Ignore feature. Please consider using it on the recidivists.

That is the very best possible suggestion for the attempts to derail valid conversations. Stop it, and put it in YOUR OWN THREAD, HIGHJACKERS.

Our purpose here as it has been on other message boards is communication, discussion, sharing what we have heard, read, learned, learning from each other. It is NOT a game to us.

Using the "Ignore" feature is an excellent bit of advise. When you put someone who disrupts on "Ignore," you never miss him/her.

Earlier, I recd the post and the tally jumped from 0 to 1.

So two unrecs, at least, have been registered by other members of DemocraticUnderground.

IMO, unrecing is censorship which is not democratic.

I kind of wish the system would make separate tallies for rec and unrec. This way everyone can lodge their opinion. But short of that, I rec the ones I choose to, and leave be the rest.

As I mentioned, unrecs here are a form of censorship, even election fraud. We both had our votes STOLEN.

first of all, it's simply voting. The opinion seems to be that "yes" votes are democratic, but "no" votes aren't. Second, no thread from the LA forum is ever going to make the greatest page, so that is a moot point.

I unrec in the main forums all the time, mainly when people post uselss vanities that in my opinion crap up the site.

As to whiners, I find the whining about unrecs annoying.
