He was taken last Thursday to the Peruvian national cancer institute (Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas (INEN)) for revision of lesions on his tongue. Doctors determined that his cancer growths are not terminal.

So back to the swanky prison digs he went.

Docs also said Alberto F. was suffering from severe depression. Easy to guess why.

He will be assigned a shrink.

Meantime Humala was down in Baires today, meeting with Cristina. The day before he met with Pepe Mujica in Montevideo. Humala and his party had to take a ferry from Montevideo to Buenos Aires last night (Monday) because ashes from the Chilean volcano forced cancellation of flights, including his.

Humala's next scheduled stop on his South American tour (Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile) is Santiago, but that trip may be canceled because of the volcano.

He apparently has been hoping to ride those tongue lesions out of prison. Already Humala has publicly stated he could be would consider pardoning him if he were ill.

You can be sure it's only a matter of time until Fujimori developes another malady, just like Pinochet, who disappeared the night before trial, or whatever, just as Kenneth Lay died the night before going to prison.
