1. I side with both of them on this

"It makes my skin crawl when they attack Rick Perry for one of the best things he did," Clinton says, that is, his support of a Texas law that grants in-state college tuition to illegal immigrants brought to the state as children. "What would they like?" Clinton demands. "Would they like the kid to stand on a corner and sell dope or something?"

Perry takes the same view: He says the Texas law creates "tax-paying contributing members" of society.

2. I believe in giving credit where it's due

and even if I disagree with (p)Rick Perry on practically everything else, I cannot withhold praise for what I consider a good program.

3. I agree. I wouldn't vote for Perry for anything, but I'll give him credit on this.

Too many Republicans use this and similar issues to attract bigoted voters.

I'm suspicious of Perry's motives, though.

I am so damned tired of the hateful, punitive, abusive nature of RETHUGS. The kids of illegal immigrants should not have to pay their entire lives for a mistake over which they had NO control. Funny how conservatives so selectively admire the "up by the bootstraps" success stories. I guess it only applies to lilly white types--and MALES at that. I'll quit before I start a rant of Mike Malloy proportions. :mad:

7. It's so ironic that Perry got blasted for this of all things

I mean, it was like the one (ostensibly) good thing he did. And that one thing, and his refusal to apologize for it, was what made ReThugs hate him.

I remember watching the debate, and having that realization come over me when the booing started. It was a really awful feeling.

But I draw the line at taxpayer funded TUITION...
