"Gay people are sickening."
The post was removed. ("There is no homophobia on DU") , yet the author posts even yet!
How racist or homophobic does a member have to be , to get the TS?

Why. WHY is that poster still a member of DU?

1. Let's get something straight. Those little markers you used (twice) in your post are called quotes.
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 10:45 AM by Skinner
When you use them, what they mean is that you are copying (or "quoting") something exactly as it was written. I know what post you are referring to, and that is not an exact quote. If you are going to come into the Ask the Admins forum and use quotes in your post, please put an actual quote within the quotes. Whenever I see someone misquoting someone else, it implies that the real quote must not have been that bad. Having been misquoted myself many times here on my own website, I know what I'm talking about.

Let me be clear: If someone posted "Gay people are sickening" here on Democratic Underground, they would be banned immediately. The moderators would not even have to wait for an administrator to sign-off on it before they pulled the trigger.

In the case you are referring to, the verbiage used in the actual post was much more ambiguous than what you claim. It is my job and the moderators' job to assume good faith on everyone's part, and to give them the benefit of the doubt. After considering the post in context, and considering previous behavior of the person in question, the DU administrators decided that there was not much doubt left in this case, and the person got banned. It took a while to make a decision because this was not a clear-cut case like you make it sound.
