What's permitted in support of a specific candidate? |
|
I've looked on the site for guidelines on this and haven't seen any, so I'm asking:
My cousin has filed to run as a first-time candidate for State Representative in Florida in 2012, in a district currently represented by a Republican. (Yes, of course my cousin is a Democrat. :)) Can I post links to his web site? To his pages on DFA where he is trying to win a scholarship and is looking for votes of support for endorsement? Other kinds of support for "my" candidate? Would the state forum be the appropriate spot for this, or could I look for a larger number of supporters in GD?
Thanks for any guidance you can give me.

And you can post about this in any appropriate forum or group. Just one word of advice though -- don't post too many threads about this in GD (like, multiple threads per day) or other members may feel you are spamming.
GD would definitely be the best place to find supporters but if you think you will have a lot of updates to post about your cousin's candidacy I'd suggest putting them in the Florida state forum -- then post periodic updates in GD, linking people to the state forum posts.

No spamming, I promise. But I'm grateful to be able to help him; he's a really good guy and a vast improvement over the right-winger who's their current Rep.
