Technical question...

For the last few days, all the text I see on DU is in italics -- not just posts but also headers. Also, when I use the HTML code to italicize a word in in a post, it doesn't show. I don't know if this is what's seen on others' screens, or just mine. What button have I pushed in error and how can I fix it? Thanks for your help.

1. That's a new one to me

Is it just on DU, or is it every site you go to? Is it happening just with your browser, or on other software on your computer?

I did some Googling and it seems other people have had this problem (in general, not on DU). It may have something to do with one of your default fonts going missing, or some kind of registry error occurring when you were uninstalling software.

If one of your default fonts has somehow been removed, your computer will try to replace it with the nearest match, which in this case may be the italicized version of the missing font.

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, click your start button and type the word "fonts" in the search box, and press enter. A list of your installed fonts will appear. Scroll down to Verdana and double-click on it. The list of Verdana fonts will be displayed. See if "Verdana Regular" is listed -- if not, then let me know.

You might also want to try this with the Arial font and see if "Arial Regular" is listed.

If both of those fonts exist on your system, then the problem lies elsewhere. Let me know what you find out.

2. Thanks. Seems to be just DU.

I checked my fonts and I have regular Arial but only italic/bold Verdana. I also noticed (after my first question) that the feature of marking the OPs that I have read in red is also gone. I haven't deleted anything IIRC. Stuff gets weird, huh?

3. I think the missing Verdana font might be the problem
