Feinstein Uses 'Fast and Furious' to Make Case for National Gun Registration
Making a case for national gun registration, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said “perhaps mistakes were made” in the botched gun-walking program known as Fast and Furious, but she said trying to assign blame misses the larger problem.
“This is a deep concern for me. I know others disagree, but we have very lax laws when it comes to guns,” Feinstein, an advocate of gun control, said during Tuesday's hearing of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism.
“My concern, Mr. Chairman, is that there’s been a lot said about Fast and Furious, and perhaps mistakes were made,” Feinstein said. “But I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem. And the problem is, anybody can walk in and buy anything.”
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/feinstein-uses-fast-and-furious-make-case-national-gun-registrationIf a thread were started in any other forum at this site in which:
- the source of an allegation against an elected Democratic representative was the right-wing cnsnews
- the allegation made by the right-wing news source against that Democrat was unfounded on its face
- the poster alluded to a theory (previously discussed in the Guns forum) alleging that the very serious and tragic problems in the "Fast and Furious" operation were intentional and arose out of a conspiracy by Democrats to incite public demand for more gun control
I am pretty sure the post and its author would be dealt with ... appropriately.
My post here may be premature, and that may indeed happen, at least as regards the former. For the latter, however, forgive me if I anticipate impunity.
If that turns out to be the case, my question will be: Why?
Even if (what I consider to be) the appropriate action is taken, why would a member of this website (for over two years, with nearly 3,000 posts) have felt free to start that thread at Democratic Underground?
edit - the thread has been dealt with; the poster has not.
I'd like to add another example from today:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=118&topic_id=476938&mesg_id=477054I listened to the youtube audio and there is no way I can get it to say what that subject line says. The youtube channel it appears on consists of a large number of videos attacking "liberals". Again, I cannot imagine that this would be tolerated - or that any member of DU would expect a free pass to post such garbage - anywhere else at this website.
