I posted the entitled on GC & was directed towards here. Nice to have a new forum on these questions.
Along with being interested in the consensus, which I hope matters, I would be very interested to understand the moderators policy regarding the AIPAC scandal/spying case (alleged) and really, basically, why any discussions of people who happen to be Jewish are dropped into the I/P Forum -- are we going to have queries/posts discussing Christians, Buddhists, Hindus, or Muslims segregated in future also?
But I'll let the post speak.
Please don't delete or lock the original post.
It would be so, I don't know... 1984.
Is not AIPAC an 'American' lobby? It purports it is not an instrument nor agent of the State of Israel, or am I mistaken?
Does the (alleged) AIPAC spying not directly pertain to the United States and its government? (as in govern-ment)
Is it not general knowledge that AIPAC holds in thrall many, if not most of our congresspeople? A stat I saw recently, unfortunately not at my fingertips, was that (at least in one case) AIPAC funded a certain congressperson for a sum larger than the combined contributions of that persons constituents/contributors in their state.
(I think I read it at Max Blumenthal's blog and have less surety but want to say Wisconsin, however don't quote me; it'd be hell refinding that link but I can try if anyone really needs to see it)
Do not we, the 'American' people --U.S. citizens-- have any right to discuss all this?
I'm quite used to it being hushed in the MSM, but here too?
I'll never forget, long ago, when I saw an article regarding Anne Frank dropped out of General Discussion and into the I/P forum. Was she Israeli? Was she Palestinian? Both? Wut?
No, she was Jewish, and to relegate her to I/P was bordering on racism in itself IMO. I can understand, to a certain extent, corralling discussions regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, but does DU really want to segregate any discussion based upon, however any individual defines it, a persons race or religion?
This post is not to discuss the scandal, but to discuss these kinds of actions and attempt to find what the draconian reasoning is behind this. Is it simply a knee-jerk reaction?
If you don't want to foster conspiracy theories you allow discussion and transparency -- if there are racist comments fine, by all means get rid of them! Otherwise occluding any subject which is deigned 'Israel/Palestine' because someone is Jewish only encourages and reinforces them. This practice seems to me at the least a tacit admission that DU comments are racist and must be contained; which are evidently, eminently not the case. Therefore, it is quite puzzling.
Is this post -- even discussing this issue regulated or banned? If this post gets disappeared I will be extremely disappointed, however with the history of (at least) the Anne Frank analogy for the most part, and sadly, unsurprised.
Please, PLEASE, surprise me.
end of post.

Oops, too late. Woke up to find it locked.
These types of actions are illogical, IMO
Moreover I believe they often elicit the very behaviors and group think they seek to deter.
