Father Of 9/11 Victim: Obama "Putting Too Much Spotlight On Himself"
David Beamer, father of 9/11 victim Todd Beamer on FOX News: "I feel some chagrin now, though, about how the rest of it has been handled. And frankly it started May Day, 2011 when the president announced what had happened. The excessive use of the personal pronoun that he used in his remarks, I really felt that was the beginning of the Commander-in-Chief putting too much spotlight on himself, taking too much credit for what the remarkable Americans had done. And of course it's only now accelerated to a greater degree in the media. "

May Day was also the eighth anniversary of Mission Accomplished, Mr. Beamer. Did you see anything wrong with that?

4. Isn't Todd Beamer the one whose wife tried to make him out to be the hero of 9/11?
The one who tried to trademark the phrase "Let's Roll"?

10. Yep...

Controversy

Lisa Beamer has been subject to some minor controversy in the years since her husband's death. She has been accused of trying to profit from her husband's death after it was learned that on December 4, 2001, she applied for a trademark on the phrase "Let's Roll". The Todd M. Beamer Foundation has since licensed the use of the phrase to Wal-Mart, the Florida State football team, and others.

In addition to the controversy surrounding the trademark registration, the public financial records of the non-profit Todd M. Beamer Foundation (now known as Heroic Choices) have come under scrutiny for taking in more money than was delivered in services. According to Heroic Choices, from 2001 through 2004 the foundation used 53% of its proceeds to fund its programs, falling short of the Better Business Bureau's Standards for Charity Accountibility, which state that program activity should account for at least 65% of charity expenses.<2>

23. Yes, they loved Bush! The wife of Todd Beamer was at the
State of the Union Address sitting next to Laura airc and she was all over TV for months either being used, or willingly allowing herself to be used, to promote the Bush agenda. At first she naturally garnered a lot of sympathy as a 9/11 widow. But after a while, it seemed she was the only widow the media would talk to and people began to get tired of seeing her, while so many others were ignored. Even my Repub girlfriend told me she was 'sick of hearing about this one woman' and wondered why she was getting so much media attention.

I would be willing to bet they are Republicans and Bush supporters.

7. This guy is a douchebag...
Look at Obama's speech: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20058783-503544.html

He used I in the context this jackfuck is pushing only five times.

That includes the "I can report to the American people..." bit.

We was used 34 times.

They was used six times.

But I think this asshole is a tool and I lack any sympathy for him for turning this event into HIS own political agenda.

9. Gee, how did Mr. Beamer feel when W said he really wasn't interested in Osama anymore?
Or what did he say when W appeared on that carrier deck and said mission accomplished?

Of all the criticisms I've heard about Obama,, an inflated ego isn't one of them!

In which case he would have been stopped in his tracked when she called him a whining bitch like she did the 9/11 widows.

20. Racial. Constant demands for humility do not happen with white presidents.
Edited on Thu May-05-11 11:31 PM by TwilightGardener
Edit to add: it goes beyond a demand for humility. They want Obama to basically disown the achievement.

21. He's pretty much kept a low profile except for
the ground zero thing (freeper heads would be exploding if he hadn't done that or something similar; oh well they'd explode no matter what he did since they're so full of hot air) and the initiial announcement. I don't think he's called attention to himself at all.

25. Fascinating. What does the family of Mark Bingham have to say?
Edited on Fri May-06-11 12:38 AM by Warren DeMontague
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Bingham

You know, Mark Bingham, the 6'4" athlete who also rushed to cockpit on Flight 93, and who also was gay, which means the Christian Right GOP assholes that the Beamer family so enthusiastically knee-jerk to support have spent the past 10 years desperately trying to prevent citizens like Mark Bingham, Flight 93 hero, from enjoying full equal rights as Americans.

I'm curious. Maybe "Real Clear Politics" can ask the Bingham family, who have just as much right to a publicly aired opinion on this as the Beamers.
