Obama tells volunteers to play safe on global politics
CHICAGO (AFP) – US President Barack Obama has offered a lesson in doorstep politics to 2012 campaign volunteers who fear getting into trouble when asked to discuss the intricacies of global diplomacy.

On a visit Wednesday to his hometown of Chicago the president told his helpers they did not need to know everything about his multiple policy platforms.

He used the example of divided Cyprus, an issue familiar to US foreign policy elites which is far less understood in the heartland.

"Sometimes it's not so bad to say, 'I don't know,'" Obama told a supporter who asked a general question about the campaign.

in the form of "I don't know."

I gotta tell ya: I'm getting weary of Obama and his DLC handlers.

8. If someone asks you a question you know the answer to, and you respond: "I don't know"
that is called a lie anywhere outside the Beltway.

Hence the point in my sarcastic post is that lying a.k.a. "playing it safe" is ubiquitous in the Beltway.

6. Complete quote
"Sometimes it's not so bad to say, 'I don't know,'" Obama told a supporter who asked a general question about the campaign.

"If somebody asks you something about where does the president stand on Cyprus, and you say I'm not sure, but here is what -- I promise you I'll find out an answer and we'll make sure to call you back," he said.

"People appreciate that. They don't expect you to know the ins and outs of every single policy.

3. Saying, "I don't know" is the first step toward "I fucked up".
Which needs to be our next step - it is okay for America to be wrong on policy. Just ask GWB and his 8 years of terrorist reign over the USA. We fuck up and need to admit to it, even down to the small time groups of volunteers.

Don't be like the last group to occupy the WH...admitting that 'you don't know' is SO much more adult then LYING and making a situation even worse. Wait...

:freak:
