Weather colder, days shorter. Which fall and winter foods, etc. do you enjoy? |

Today is stew.
Hot chocolate is my dessert on many cold evenings.
I read the list of ingredients in marshmallows and decided to stick with whipped cream, even though that, too, contains a couple of additional ingredients. (I did briefly consider making my own marshmallows. Very briefly.)
I make warm apple cider with with cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, orange peels and lemon peels. And, in a pinch, cider with only ground cinnamon and cloves is tasty, too. Sometimes, I make it just to simmer on the stove to make the place smell cosy, especially during winter holidays.
Roasts make the kitchen extra warm. I can even roast a chicken breast and veggies in my toaster oven, if I position a teeny roaster on the diagonal. Just right for two (or for one, with enough left over for a nice sandwich or two later in the week).
Pasta e fagioli and chicken veg are tied as my favorite winter soups to make.

But, each season does have some unique joys.
And the stew did turn out pretty good yesterday. :-)
