Police hunt for attackers of 14 tourists

Published: Feb. 6, 2013 at 7:11 AM

ACAPULCO, Mexico, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Investigators are following leads in the attack on 14 people, including the rape of six women, at a vacation villa in Acapulco, officials said Wednesday.

Guerrero State's Attorney Elva Martha Garzon said investigators have "strong evidence" concerning the men who attacked the 14 vacationers Monday, raping six women and tying up seven men, El Universal reported.

Thirteen of the victims were from Spain. The 14th victim was a Mexican female who was not sexually assaulted, Garzon said.

Garzon said during a radio interview five armed men, wearing hoods, entered the villa where the tourists were staying and attacked them. Besides the assault, the men stole laptop computers, cellphones, credit cards and other items.

The prosecutor said the search has expanded but "significant progress" has been made, adding he expected "positive results" soon.

Asked why the Mexican woman wasn't raped, Garzon said she identified herself as Mexican, asked not to be raped and "hence was not touch," he said.

You couldn't get me to visit Mexico. I wouldn't go on an all expenses paid vacation to Cancun or the others. There are too many uncertainties and risks. Besides, outside major touristy areas the Federales are quite rude and corrupt. But Mexico is gorgeous! Check out the following pages for some pretty stuff.

If you did not know, the Adventure Riders Forum is one of the very best on the net, most entertaining. And if you register you can spend some time checking out the basement which includes some good political discussions in Church, State and Money. I hope you will consider checking it out.

2. I've been to Mexico. But I don't know if I would go again.
I used to think I'd like to live there.

Never heard of that site. I feel as though I already spend too much time posting and reading, so I hesitate to venture on to another board. But, if I get board at the same time that I am too tired to do anything that requires me to move, you never know where I might end up.
